Our lovely 18.2m wooden fishing boat, the Annette Rosenkilde is available. Currently on a swinging mooring in the beautiful bay of Pollença, Mallorca, situated in the shadow of La Fortaleza where scenes from the BBC series the Night Manager were filmed. We bought her 2.5 years ago and had thought we might continue her role as a coded day charter boat, for which she is well suited. This would be subject to the appropriate coding and licensing as these have currently lapsed. We decided to refurbish her and sailed her up to the beautiful area of the Northeast of Mallorca.
Since then I have lived on her and sailed her, and returned home to Devon every few months. Family and friends have enjoyed holidays on our lovely floating apartment - swimming from the boat, kayaking and paddle boarding, and enjoying bbqs on the huge deck. Due to health issues I need to be based in the UK. Therefore I am looking to sell her, share her or swap for a live aboard of similar value in the south of the UK. Any permutations would be considered.
The Annette was built in 1959 for a Danish fishing family on a classic design and worked the challenging North Sea for almost 40 years until decommissioned which is testament to her build quality and longevity. She is strongly built of oak on oak construction. Her beam is 5.15 and her draft is 2.4m. There is a massive living area, previously the fish hold, both below and on deck. We have extended the accommodation on board and work will continue to improve her.
There is a forward heads and shower off the fwd cabin, which currently has a double and two single bunks, so sleeps four but this can easily be changed. The refurbished galley has new worktops on solid wood cabinets, a double sink, a GN Espace stainless marine gas cooker with 4 ring hob and oven. There is a recently installed Waeco crx50 24v fridge. The galley is in a linear design and incorporated within the open plan saloon where there is an L shaped sofa around the table which sleeps two. We have installed a wood burning stove which keeps the boat cosy and snug in the colder months of winter.
Aft of the saloon is another double cabin with full size bed and another cabin which is currently being fitted out as a second shower and heads. Sleeping for 8. There is also plenty of storage. I am planning to remove the metal companionway and replace it with a sliding hatch. On deck in the wheelhouse there is sleeping for one.
So all in all sleeping for 9. There is also ample deck area for hammocks where we have slept on hot summer nights. The heart of the boat is an original Gardner 8lxb fully marinised Diesel engine with a twin disc mg509 gearbox. These bomb proof power plants continue to provide exceptional & economic service in a variety of commercial fishing and workboats and this one is no exception. Spares should they be needed are readily available and there is an active and enthusiastic Facebook group which is a wealth of information & advice which I have found invaluable.
This unit starts on the key and has had a new exhaust manifold fitted recently. Electrical power is provided by a kubota 6.5kva generator and 430 watts of solar panels provide alternative charging for the service and engine batteries. There is a small 240v inverter however power supply is a feature of the boat under development and review but the boat functions off grid as it is. It holds 2000 litres of diesel and a fresh water tank for 1000 litres. On the trip down from Scotland to Mallorca she averaged approximately 1 litre per mile at around 7kts cruising speed so there is approx 1900-2000 mile range on a full tank.
The boat was last hauled out in 2018 and necessary repairs to keel and rudder were carried out by a professional carpenter in Alcúdia. She was anti fouled, Anodes replaced and repainted before launch. There is too much equipment on board to list but includes rib, paddleboard, kayak, hammocks, awnings, swing seats, cushions, tables .... the area is wonderful for cycling and wind/water sports. If you are interested in kite surfing there are many schools locally along with hobie cat sailing schools. We swim and snorkel off the boat.
If not an ‘all out purchase’ I am open to suggestions and ideas on sharing or exchange. If sharing then I ideally need someone with knowledge of engines, carpentry or similar. I’m pretty good with DIY and have learnt a lot. Whilst the boat is in good order, like all wooden boats she will benefit from further time and investment to improve and consolidate the work I have already done. I don’t like to leave her for too long and although I have friends on the water who keep an eye and also the local webcam shows her it isn’t enough for me to be able to focus on my health and I either need to sell or have someone who can share the care and maintenance of this beautiful boat.
If you would like to come and view I will reimburse flights if a deal is done. So if you would like to own a traditional wooden boat with the potential to create a beautiful floating apartment in the stunning bay under the Fortaleza please get in touch! I have a short video which I can wats ap to you so please send me a wats ap to 0phone. I can’t change the item collection from Newton Abbot but obviously it’s in Mallorca!
