Drascombe Drifter

We have owned this vessel for approx. 3 years now. We bought it from a family in the north of Scotland. We live close to Kielder water and it was our intention to sail it there. Unfortunately due to work we did not manage to launch it last year so we decided to put it up for sale.

I think we have only launched it 3 times in the time we have had it. I did store it at the sailing club here but I have brought the boat home to work on it and get it ready for sale. It did not start life as an inboard but was converted not very long ago to quite a high standard. The SS fuel tank is housed in the binnacle in the centre of the cockpit. This also houses the engine control panel and morse engine control.

There is a SS fuel shut off valve below the grating. The engine is extremely frugal and runs on a cup full of diesel. The wet exhaust system is in very good condition and has a large Vetus raw water strainer in the engine compartment which make clearing blockages very easy. At the moment the sea suction valve is closed and the system is filled with anti freeze as part of the winterization. A small electrical panel has been made up in the cabin.

The engine is covered by a sound proof cover which comes out in sections for maintenance. The stern gear is all in good condition. The stern gland has been checked and is packed with marine grease. There is a remote greaser for this. At the moment I have fitted a fresh water anode.

I have re-bonded this to the stern gear. The shaft is in good condition and benefits from a flexi drive coupling behind the gearbox. There is a bilge pump in the cockpit which pumps out below the stern gland. I have replaced this with new. The prop and cutlass bearing are both in good condition.

The external wood work is in good condition and has been re-oiled recently. All of the rigging is SS as are all of the fittings. The bowsprit and all fittings are all SS. The sails are not new but all have been away and any repairs carried out. The mast was taken off last year and painted.

There are nav lights at the mast top but they need to be wired back up. The hull could do with a polish and I am currently addressing some minor scratches in the gel coat. The topsides/coach roof has some gel coat holes, for want of a better word, and I think this has been air bubbles and the gel coat has been over polished by machine. I have just ordered some gel coat the right color to repair this. All of the sheets were replaced last year along with new mooring ropes and fenders.

The V birth cushions are in good condition. The galley are could do with an update. The original spirit stove is missing and we have been using a gas camping stove. There is a bilge pump for the cabin below the galley sink. Please contact me if you require further information.
