Set at very low price as quick sale required. A classic semi displacement river cruiser built in the early 70s and was a direct competitor to the Freeman 23 but more spacious and with more headroom, which was one of the key reasons for my original purchase. This boat is in need of a fair bit of attention to get her back to where she should be, so should be considered to be somewhat of a project.
I have owned "Sparkler" since 1991 and have enjoyed 23 of those years cruising up and down the river, but recently I'm finding little time for my hobby and for maintenance, and the condition of the boat has deteriorated in some areas as you would expect for her age. The main cabin area is reasonably dry, the windows having been refurbished about 10 years ago. The windows in the cockpit area do leak when it rains, and this has resulted in some water damage to the helm and floor areas. Some cockpit decking panels will need to be replaced, but the underlying structure is all sound. All electrics have been tidily re-wired and in very good condition, with an alternator replacing the original dynamo, and a twist-on oil filter adapter replacing the original canister unit.
The engine was decommissioned in 2015 (the water pump impeller and a drain cock have been removed and engine drained), but these are simple to re-fit. I fitted a new leisure battery last May (2016) when I also cleaned the boat up (one photo attached), expecting to get her out for the season. I also turned the engine over briefly but did not fully start her up. I would anticipate no problems getting the engine working given a few hours I don't have time do this prior to sale, and buyer should not rely on this as a means to transport the boat upon collection. The internal woodwork is mostly in very good condition for the age of the boat.
There is plenty of locker space. Most cushions and covers were water damaged before I had the windows replaced. I'm only including them as patterns to make new ones which I intended to do years ago but never got round to this. The exterior deck could do with good clean, rub down and lick of paint to make it easier to clean. It was painted some years ago but this has now flaked in many areas, though the primer is still sound.
Hood will be good for a year or two, I think a couple of lift the dot fittings need replacing but I have spares. No current Boat Safety Scheme certificate, but has passed previously with ease, so wouldn't anticipate any major problems unless requirements have changed significantly. Like all boats of this age, this does have osmosis. Many choose to ignore this as it is expensive to treat and does not appear to get rapidly worse over the years. Key points: 1) Please understand that this boat is in need of a fair bit of attention, so is priced accordingly.
Having said that, it would almost certainly be possible to get her out on the river after a few days of tinkering. 2) Sale and removal of boat from current mooring must complete before the end of March. Method and cost of transport are entirely purchaser's responsibility. You will need to arrange your own moorings. There is no slip or crane available at the current mooring, so may need to be towed.
3) By all means make me an offer and haggle if time is drawing close and boat still hasn't sold. 4) All bidders / prospective buyers, PLEASE CONTACT ME FIRST before making any offer so we can discuss any concerns you may have on the phone, or potentially to arrange viewing if you live locally. This boat is sold strictly sold as seen with no warranty. 5) Clearly this item is NOT "Free P&P". Method and cost of transport are entirely purchaser's responsibility.
I have no idea why this is showing on the listing. 6) As I live about an hour's drive from the mooring, it will be difficult to arrange viewings mid week, so weekend preferable.
