Electric Day Boat. Ex Windermere Hire Boat, 10 Available

Windermere Lake Cruises are modernising our popular fleet of hire boats so here are some of our retiring vessels for sale. Built locally in the 1970's (originally with stuart turner petrol engines), these boats have been used every summer on Windermere and lovingly maintained in dry dock every winter. All are now electric powered and come complete with motors and batteries so they are ready to sail away! The boats are 5.5 metres long, 1.5 metre beam, and weigh approximately 1.5 tons (this includes the batteries). They are licensed to carry up to 7 persons but realistically are more comfortable for up to 4.

The battery packs are mounted in the centre of the boats for good stability and the control units and chargers are under the transom. We have 10 boats available, 9 are all on the water and ready to go, 1 is in dry dock and is best described as a restoration project (no drive unit or batteries). Condition of the 9 operating boats varies slightly, all are in full working order but do require some upkeep and renovation to restore them to excellent condition. Drive units are a variety of LMC & Vetus systems. Battery packs are between 5 and 8 years old, each pack contains 16 24v 240Ah cells.

We have operated the boats for 7 months per year, 7 days per weeks for approximately 6 hours per day. I would recommend the buyer looking at replacing these battery packs in the next couple of years although they will give plenty more light service. Charging is via a standard "motorhome" cable and costs a few pence per night. A full replacement battery pack would cost approximately £800, although much cheaper options are available if you don't need 6 hours run time. We are looking for quick sales and the buyer would need to arrange collection/delivery, please do not buy if you cannot take away (a slipway is available and we will assist, but buyer needs own vehicle and trailer) Viewing is possible any time, boats can be selected from any that remain (first come first served!).
