Eygthene 24 1/4 Ton Yacht, Designed by Ron Holland Welcome to my listing for my beautiful Sailing Yacht. The Eygthene 24 was designed by Ron Holland. It was first built in 1973 and was one of his very first designs, its efficient shape and sail plan made him famous after it won the Quarter Ton Cup in 1973. The hull shape is unusual, has a very wide beam 9' 8" at the deck level, whilst the waterline beam is slimmer and more inline with other boats of its era. Originally the design allowed the racing crew to place their weight far from the centreline of the boat to keep it flat.
This arrangement makes the boat great for cruising as well it makes for a very spacious interior. The Yacht has undergone an extensive refurbish in 2014/15/16. I have a file of bills available totalling approx. £8,500, with the Vire Inboard engine alone having a total rebuild cost of £1,800. I have all of the Yachts paperwork documenting the extensive refit available to view.
It is a fantastic boat, which is ready to sail, Inboard engine with shaft and folding propeller, very spacious and tidy accommodation and SSR Registered. The Yacht is ideally suited to someone wishing to come up from dinghy sailing, or wanting a cheap proven design with racing performance or as a cruiser with spacious accommodation, full headroom, normally only associated with a vessel of larger length. The Yacht is currently moored on the River Itchen and is about a 10 minute motor to the Solent, being ideally placed for the Isle of Wight and the West Country.
