Welcome to the auction of Freelance a 1989 Fairline 21 Sprint. These are an excellent starter family boat from one of the leading quality boat builders of the last 40 years, many are still in use now a testament to how popular and well built they are. Stereo with speakers in both the cockpit and cabin areas. She was sold new by B.A. Peters in Chichester Marina and has spent her whole life cruising the local waters. I am selling Freelance on behalf of an old friend who has reluctantly decided to part with her due to a change in circumstances. The current owner purchased Freelance in September 2014 from Southsea Marina.

The previous owner purchased her and used her on a regular basis until 2013 when his wife's arthritis meant she was no longer able to board her. During their long ownership she was maintained regardless of cost and kept in excellent order. Having decided to sell in early 2014 a complete new cover was made to freshen her up and the Volvo 290 outdrive leg was removed and given a major service, along with a service to the engine. I inspected Freelance for my friend in August 2014 (I have spent my life on and around boats) and went on a sea trial during which she performed faultlessly. I then went to collect her in September and had one of the roughest crossings I have experienced in the Solent bringing her to her new berth in Chichester Marina, during which it surprised me how capable she is for such a small, light boat.

She was in regular use throughout 2015 and 2016, at the end of which she came out of the water for the winter and some engine & electrical work following a leak from a water hose. This resulted in the following work being carried out over the summer of 2017 by a professional marine engineer. Attend Vessel Freelance, check for engine seizure, find engine very tight and no oil in sump due torusted sump pan. Disassemble engine enough to enable engine block removal from bell housing, liftengine and block off in vessel upside down, remove sump and inspect, find all main and big endbearings washed out but crank shaft unaffected.Clean up engine parts as nessisary, install new bearings and new sump pan.Lift engine back onto bellhousing and fix to engine beds, reassemble engine top end, send alternatorand start motor for repair, new starter motor required. Find sea water pump bearings seized,dissassemble and repair pump.Install starter motor, alternater and sea water pump.

She was anti-fouled & had new anodes fitted during the 2016/2017 winter. She is fitted with the trusty Volvo AQ211A 200bhp V8 petrol engine & Volvo 290 SP outdrive which in a boat of this size gives her a real turn of performance, zipping up onto the plane with no problem and then allowing you to throttle back to an economical cruise using the Bennett hydraulic trim tabs to keep her sat at the right attitude. Indeed, in company with my own boat she has completed trips around the Needles to Freshwater Bay, to Yarmouth, Newtown Creek, Cowes & Bembridge along with numerous trips to East Head giving much fun to my friend and her family along the way.
