One of our members is now selling his 1/8 share giving the new owner 6 weeks use per annum Blue Rush a 52 foot Flybridge Motor Yacht is based in Port Alcudia Mallorca, and a share has come up for sale The boat has been owned by a syndicate for many years, and running costs per member run at around £4,500 -5000 per annum. Please note the stated running costs are an approximate guide. In addition you pay for any fuel used. Fuel consumption is typically 60-120 euros per hour depending on speed. There are many bays and beautiful locations within half an hours travel from the port.
To charter a boat like this would cost you around £1500-2000 per day! We collect £300 per month per member and at the point we need to service the boat and the annual lift out we request around £1000+ depending on what needs doing. Please note this is a guide based on the past 2/3 years of running the boat finances. The boat is maintained by the syndicate, and for each visit when you arrive the boat is cleaned internally/externally, beds made up with fresh linen, and it is all yours for that designated week. She has two double bedrooms, each with en suites with toilet/shower, so four can sleep in the two doubles, plus there is a crew cabin which can be used.
Ideally the boat is comfy with just four onboard but more can be accommodated in the crew cabin. The boat is not crewed. There is a main saloon, galley kitchen with ceramic hob, microwave fridge with freezer box, dining area, aft deck seating with table, flybridge seating/table and electric bbq, sun bathing cushions to the front of the flybridge controls and two large sunbathing bow cushions. All cabins have air conditioning/heating. We have a flat screen smart tv, radio, BOSE system and drinks fridge along with a cocktail cabinet.
There is a generator to allow you to use electricity as normal when anchored/moored up. Most of us use Blue Rush for pottering around the island, finding tranquil bays to moor up and experience tranquility. We have a jet rib so you can travel ashore or even water ski off it. It is a great base to explore the island whether you decide to sail to your destination, use a car or public transport. It just presents so many options and a different type of holiday experience.
There is even a washing machine/drier on board. In order to sail Blue Rush you must have at least day skipper, then it is mandatory that you have a couple of days training with a local skipper. Many of us have come from a sports boat background, and taken our day skipper and been trained on the boat to achieve the RYA ICC. This can be arranged again with local captains. Port Alcudia boasts many fine restaurants, all within minutes of the boat.
There is a beach nearby to give alternative lazy day options, and you can dine at the Botel Alcudiamar which is just a couple of minutes away. Sometimes we decide to have a champagne buffet breakfast there at only 9 euros each. At the AGM we select weeks based on seniority, week 1 is chosen by everyone, we go round the table then return back to the first senior member to make choice of week number 2 and so on. So that equates to 48 weeks when the boat can be used, each member getting 6 weeks use. We take the boat out of the water generally February for service/antifouling/polishing where we allow 4 weeks to complete this work and do any needy repairs.
Sometimes members cannot use chosen weeks and offer swaps. It works really well. Our AGM was held this year in Walsall which is centrally placed for our members, when we allocated weeks for this year along with annual servicing and any work needed to be done over the winter time. The boat is lifted out each year, antifouled, painted, cutlass bearings and anodes/sea cocks changed. Currently she is out of the water being antifouled, serviced and polished and will be back on her berthwithin the next week to ten days.
We have a syndicate agreement that states that the boat cannot be sold or moved to another marina without 100% agreement. All other decisions are based on a majority vote. The mooring which we are currently on (berth 601, pontoon 7) we have occupied for many years, and we pay directly the mooring fee to Alcudiamar Marina each month. How syndicates workThe boat is registered in the UK official number is 901115 at the Maritime & Coastguard AgencyA boat registered under part 1 of the Ships register is divisible in sixty fourthsSo the share up for sale equates to 8/64, this share is then registered with the Maritime agency the procedure being that the sale transaction is put on a bill of sale, then there is a declaration of eligibility that is then signed by all of the members and submitted to be placed on the register detailing all of the owners.Insurance is also with a UK London based companyhttps://www.gov.uk/government/publications/bill-of-sale-msf-4705https://www.gov.uk/register-a-boat/the-uk-ship-registerPlease see the link below for; Ariel view of the port and marina https://www.youtube.com/watch?
