Falmouth Bass Boat 16

The Falmouth Bass Boat is a traditionally styled dayboat constructed in simulated clinker hand laid GRP. She is stable and roomy and can carry up to 5 adults under sail or motor, but is also straightforward to sail single handed. There is 700lb of foam buoyancy built into the hull. She is rigged as a gunter ketch, with a main mast and a mizzen mast. The gunter rigged mainsail means that both masts, the spar and the boom are all short enough to fit inside the boat for towing, but still gives lively performance.
The boat is balanced when sailing with the jib and mizzen sails only, useful if you want to just trickle along without hoisting the main, or with the main lowered or reefed when sailing in heavy weather. She has bilge keels so will dry out virtually level, and an 8mm galvanised steel lifting centreplate to give stability under sail. There is a laminated tiller with lifting rudder. The motor has F-N-R gears, and a 12 litre remote fuel tank.
It starts easily, runs well and pumps plenty of water. An outboard lock is included. There are two manual bilge pumps, and a pair of 8’ oars with galvanised rowlocks. Heavy duty bow roller and bow and stern mooring cleats. The boat sits on a heavy duty galvanised trailer with a rear swinging arm which makes launching and recovery very straightforward.
There is a good quality overall (mast up) cover, which has had a few repairs but is in good condition. A lovely family boat, she sails safely and predictably and goes along nicely under motor.
