Normal 0 false false false EN-GB JA X-NONE STRIKE 16 FOLDING TRIMARAN I have for sale a Strike 16 folding trailerable trimaran designed by Richard Woods. I finally finished the boat last year. The construction is ply and epoxy and she has been constructed to a high standard and has many extra features listed below. I have amended the design by removing the cabin top shown in some of the photos. This proved to get in the way and was a bit too low to get under.
However it is available and could be refitted if required. The boat has a draft of about 8 inches so she is ideal for shallow water. The all up towing weight (inc trailer but without gear) is just over 500 kgs. The original cross beams are included so she can still be sailed as the original Pixie 14. See the dot com web page sailingcatamarans for details of both boats.
The trailer has a winch and new wheels, bearings and suspension units. The various extra features, either fitted or ready to fit are; Roller reefing to jib Bowsprit Fully battened mainsail with rotating mast. Bunk fittings (Canvas not yet complete) Bilge pump. 2 outboard brackets Raised floors so you do not get wet feet Extended side decks which fold with the hulls Forward netting for security (available but not fitted at the moment. Purpose made A frame for easy single handed mast raising.
Large forward and stern lockers, forward one has a removable intermediate floor. Anchor, chain and warp. There are two places to fit an outboard motor, 2hp is adequate. However, the outboard shown is not included in the sale. I was considering fitting her with twin outboards at one time and trying her out as a motor launch, she would be very fast.
I am a retired architect and you can trust my building skills and description. A full set of photos can be seen via the following https://goo.gl/photos/NNq16NjBrgFMKBgSA https://photos.app.goo.gl/9rp5kdwwVusRmCVVAPlease note that some of the photos show a ketch rig which was to use a topper mast at the rear, never quite completed. There are two rigs shown. One is the original Pixie 14, the sails, with roller reefing jib, are virtually brand new. The other main sail shown is a fully battened one from a Catapult catamaran.
However, I no longer have the wishbone boom, though one would be available from the Catapult website. The following youtube videos show the boat sailing with this rig. Https://youtu.be/tiJyv5-n97I https://youtu.be/0o4zN5g5ZL0 There are also many extra photos which can be seen via the following link https://photos.app.goo.gl/9rp5kdwwVusRmCVVA I used to cruise in a Wayfarer with a tent, and wanted to create a deck tent for this boat. I have tried various ideas as shown in the photos. The smaller one relies on the cuddy being fitted. I was also going to extend the green section forward to complete the tent without the cuddy. The larger tent would I think work but has not been completed.
Age and a serious heart condition resulting in lack of energy have defeated me. That’s also the reason I am with great reluctance, selling her. This is a most unusual opportunity, you are unlikely to see anything like it on classifieds board, or anywhere else this year. The nearest similar boat would be the Astus 16.5, cost £13500 plus extras. I do not need the money for another boat and am in no great hurry to sell.
I will therefore wait for the best offer. The boat is located near Milnthorpe. Cumbria. I am happy to show prospective purchasers around the boat most days. Please ring Richard on phone0 to view. Payment via bank transfer.
