Gem 550 Micro 18ft Trailer-Sailer Sailing Boat with Road Trailer. It was originally designed Rob Humphreys and has a lifting Keel. This is a great boat for day sailing and has bench seats/bunks inside, technically I believe it is meant to be 4 x Berth but I would not say it is suitable for any overnight stays as there are no toilet facilities or hand wash on board. I think most of these boats that where built in the UK where made between 1978 and 1984 and some raced in the European micro-tonner class. The design/molds have since been moved to Australia where more boats have been produced.

LOA: 5.49m/18ft LWL: 5.08 / 16ft 8in Beam: 2.41 / 7ft 11in Draft with Keel Down: 0.99m / 3ft 3in Draft with Keel Up: 0.23m / 9in Air Draft: 1.52m / 5ft I am selling this boat as spares or repairs as it hasn't been in the water for many years and I haven't had time to check everything is in working order, as far as I know it is ready to sail but it will need some TLC to get her back in good shape and sale is "sold as seen". I bought this boat 2nd hand and the sails already had some repairs done, you can see this in one of the pics and there are some small tears, I would assume you will need to do some work on them to get them back in shape. I'm including an outboard motor but don't know if it still works and will need a service before being used as it hasn't been run for several years. It is a large trailer sailer and you will need a heavy powerful vehicle to tow it.

The boat was used on Lake Windermere for many years and I was planning to use it on Rutland Water. This type of boat was used to race off the coast but that is way beyond my experience level and I'm not sure what the rules are for using a boat at sea, I'm still a novice sailor. I never got the time I wanted to go sailing or improve my skills, so it's time to let someone who has time to care for her and sail "Meg" to buy her.
