Halcyon 27 Southern Cross Description Southern Cross is an excellent example of an Alan Buchanan designed Halcyon 27- classic small offshore cruisers that are renowned for both great sea-keeping performance and good accommodation. Headroom is outstanding for a yacht of this size. Southern Cross has many comfort features including a separate galley sink and wash basin, a custom-built electrical panel including call sign with shore power, electric and paraffin lights and a very warm and fuel efficient Force 10 heater mounted on the bulkhead. This allows all year sailing. All cushions are matching with a lot of wood giving a very snug feel.
Southern Cross still has the original Sabb 8 hp with variable pitch prop, these engines being the model of reliability. The engine starts easily and runs well. Also included is an extensive suite of sails in good condition and a stackpack, making her suitable for sailing shorthanded. All dodgers, canopy, sails and running rigging have been stored inside for protection. In short, Halcyons are tough little family cruisers and Southern Cross will give her new owner enjoyment for years to come.
We have survey reports from the previous owner and when we bought her, as well as lists of the work done to her. She is currently ashore at Debbage Yachting, Ipswich.
