She has been a wonderful home to us for the past 10 months and brought us to incredible places in Italy, France and Greece. Now we need to go back to our jobs and won't have much time to sail her so we decided to sell her.- We bought Kittiwake in October 2018 from Ryan and Elena who had refitted the boat entirely and sailed her from the UK to the Mediterranean – from Cornwall to Sardinia. We have also continued uprating her and maintaining her (see details below).

Basically she has kept on being refitted over the past 3 years. The boat is in a great condition and ready to sail immediately. V=jFvRmMnlRAo&t=404s Interior / Layout- U-shaped settee in saloon with solid wood table.- Strong stainless mast support near the entrance to counter the problem of the mast compressing the cabin top on some Heavenly Twins.- Fold down nav station with chart drawer and nav instruments to starboard, then through door to the heads.

The quarter berth is right in front of it.- To port is the galley, with gas stove (2 burners), sink (single), brandnew Waeco/Dometic 42L fridge (2019!!!) and plenty of storage. The water tank is forward of galley.- Stoop through on port side, with side storage, leading to aft cabin. Full size double bed (191cm x 150cm) with side entry with foam mattress (2017). Plenty of storage for clothes.- On the starboard side there is now a second cabin for guests which we use as a storage for sails, spare parts, tools etc. When we are sailing without guests.

Even when guest are aboard, we can store most items underneath the bed. We added a dinghy engine mount at the back of the boat, making it easy to lift it into place and keeping the storage area clear.- Ryan and Elena replaced some headlining in 2017 (the rest still looks good), and replaced the lighting with warm LEDs. Saloon cushions re-covered in 2017 and curtains put up in 2017. Engine- 2016 Yamaha 9.9 High Thrust engine. Mounted in a well in the cockpit.

It pushes the boat at up to 5 knots; it’s efficient (1.7L/hr) and reliable. 300 hours since new. Serviced regularly.- Fuel capacity: 52L Electrical- 560w of flexible solar panels, feeding two MPPT charge controllers. Batteries are charged by lunch time even in warm areas with the fridge running overnight, and us charging our laptops. The panels were bought new and installed in 2017.

The charge controllers communicate with an app via bluetooth, so you can check battery usage and history.- 2 xTrojan T105 6V batteries connected in series to create a 12V system. New in spring 2017.- The engine also provides around 6amps through a small alternator.- LED lighting throughout including nav lights (not motoring P/S though) – April 2018. Self-Steering- South Atlantic S440 servo pendulum wind vane (works well), connected to wheel, but could drive tillers directly. New in April 2018.- Simrad tiller pilot. It drives tillers directly (you can disconnect wheel steering system to save wear and tear).

New in May 2017. Rigging- Sta-Lok rigging new in May 2017, including turnbuckles.- Running rigging new May 2017 (new main sheet July 2018). All lines led back to the cockpit. Sails- Main and Genoa from 2005, both in good condition. One small repair at a batten pocket in the main.

Low usage (especially before we got the boat).- Storm Jib to be hanked on to inner forestay in good condition, uncertain age.- Jeckells cruising chute from 2017 (superb sail for downwinds!!)- Spinnaker – uncertain age, but not well used, and functions well, but we prefer the cruising chute. Water- 52L plastic water tank filled from deck filler, plus jerry jugs (mostly new) totalling 132L of water storage. There is space to add a flexible water tank below the existing one.- Fresh and saltwater at galley (salt water through hull and ball valve replaced 2018). Both provided via manual Whale foot pumps. New plumbing 2017.

Instruments- Garmin GPS 158i – simple, but very effective. (new in 2019).- Depth sounds Log (it may need a new transducer – we just go off GPS speed).- B&G V50 VHF and AIS receiver new in March 2018, and new aerial (also March 2018). Anchoring gear- Oversized 45lb (20KG) Manson Supreme new generation anchor. Never dragged; excellent anchor. 28m of 8mm chain.

50m of 14mm Nylon 3 strand. All gear new 2017.- Stainless Danforth type kedge with 10m of 8mm chain and 35m of 10mm rope. Sanitary‘- Simploo’ waterless toilet. Liquids go straight out through Blakes seacock. Solids go into lined container to be deposited on shore (we usually have to take it to shore every 3 weeks when living on board full-time).

Heads vented via energy-efficient computer fan, which is on permanently. The waterless loo does very well with smell.- There is currently no tap or shower in the heads, but there’s a pump to put one in. Fridge- Waeco/Dometic front loading 42L fridge, new June 2019. It doesn’t draw much power and it’s very efficient. Exterior- Cream colour painted decks – not too bright to dazzle you when emerging on deck, but they don’t get hot.

Plenty of non-skid surface – it’s easy to move around the boat.- Topsides, doors and locker lids sanded and varnished in Spring 2019.- Boom tent (easily set-up in a minute) covers half the cockpit. Professionally made in spring 2018, cream colour. Bottom- Coppercoated in March 2018. It works excellently and needs very little underwater cleaning. After 3 months of cruising there is a thin layer of slime, but it doesn’t reduce boat speed.

It’s very easy and quick to rub off.- I need to sand and redo some patches of coppercoat in some place. About 6 patches, i'm taking care of that before the boat is sold. Seacocks- Bronze Through Hull / DZR Ball Valve for salt water inlet to galley sink (new February 2018.- Blakes seacock to heads liquids outlet. Removed, inspected and rebedded in February 2018. Dinghy- Walker Bay 8ft dinghy; excellent to row.

You can also get tubes and a sail kit for it. Easy to lift on deck, either with spinnaker pole/halyard or hoisted straight up by hand.- 2.5hp Yamaha outboard; it’s always been reliable. New servicing kit bought. Upgrades- After taking over Kittiwake from Ryan and Elena, we have done the following upgrades to Kittiwake:- Purchased two new life vests (2019)- Installed dinghy engine mount at the rear of the boat- Converted storage area into a second cabin for guests. It is constructed so that sails, tools etc.

Can still be stored away under the bed. Both engines can be stored away here during winter times.- Installed brandnew GPS Garmin 158i with internal and external aereal.- Sanded and varnished hatch doors and cockpit seats.- Installed new fridge (2019)- New mast lights Condition- Kittiwake is fully equipped with lots of brand new gear and ready to cruise.- There’s a very few little maintenance jobs that need doing, such as replacing a wooden handrail and some coppercoat patches, but she’s in a condition where she could be sailed off. Furthermore …- In addition to the above, the boat comes with all necessary equipment for living aboard and maintenance and repair jobs. We invested more than 1000pounds in material, tools etc. Here is a small list of such items:- Inflatable Kayak (BIC Sport Yakkair Full HP 2) for two people with paddles and seats (needs a tiny repair)- Plenty of fishing gear- Spear fishing gun- Full engine servicing kit incl.

New spark plugs, engine and gear oil, etc. (recently bought)- Extensive set of tools (incl. Spark plug wrench, pliers, set of allan keys, bolt wrench, electric drill, Bosch sanding machine and many more ... )- Small electric hoover- Electric ventilators Kittiwake is ready to go.
