Jetstrream is our beloved Hurely 22 long keel adventure machine. She is truly a small capable yacht, we have sailed her to Ardrossan from Devon via wales and Ireland. Another larger yacht has come up that we have agreed to buy it so it's time to say goodbye to her. We are taking virtually nothing of the day to day equipment off of her as her replacement is also being left ready to use. Most importantly the sails are in good condition, the recently serviced main has three reefing points all fed through a new z spars single line reefing boom and all the controls terminate at the cockpit which.
The gennoa is on a furler and has had a new UV strip this year. Both are used sails, strongly made and will be serviceable for years to come. She also has a cruising spinnaker in very good condition which makes great work of light winds sailing. Auxillery power comes from a regularly services Tohatsu 2 stroke 8hp Longshaft Sail Drive outboard in the well. It is manual start has a remote 15 litre tank and the locker also holds a further 25 litres in cans.
The engine is brilliant: simple, light and reliable. The engine will charge the ships batteries when running. The boat has a 80 amp hour leisure battery charged by the engine, a large 40W flexible walk on solar panel, or from the battery charger (included). We have never needed to charge the batteries by charger since chaining the lights to LED and upgrading the water system to foot pump. The solar power has a purpose made solar regulator and the battery levels and power usage are monitored by a NASA BM1 Batter Monitor unit.
The boat has the following instruments mounted on DeckNASA Clipper Depth SounderNASA Clipper Wind speed and DirectionNASA Clipper Speed and Distance Garmin GPS 12 Gps unit with external antenna Below deck there is an NASA AIS Radar Unit fed from it's own rail mounted VHF Antenna which serves as a reserve antenna - it is routed past the VHF unit so it can be swapped quickly Also below deck there is a Cobra DSC VHF unit with a brand new deck speaker mounted under the complain way which is fantastic - it makes the radio so much easier to hear. The BM1 Battery monitor is with the AIS and VHF Sets in the Electronics unit. The Steering compass has two brackets to make it easier to read from either side of the cockpit. The wired auto tiller helm completes the instrument and electronics package Living space There is a triangular double berth upfront with a privacy curtain and part bulkhead. Under the bed is the Jabsco sea toilet.
The toilet is fitted to modern standards with good seacocks, and anti syphon loops and air releases. There are cupboards above and locker space below the berth. Aft in the mid ships it the galley unit. The origino alcohol cooker makes management easy on a small boat - there are no gas bottles, sparen gas bottle, gas lockers, gas pipes or gas isolation valves. Just every few days add a bit more alcohol and it'll be ready to go when you turn the knob.
The cooker is gimballed and has a pot holder. It sits on a sliding shelf with custom spice holder - that I'm very proud of. The cooker can be locked in position. With the cooker locked back the deep stainless steel sink can be accessed with drains using the toilets sea cock meaning the boat has only 2 sea cocks to look after in total. Water is from an internal tank in the bows and pumped to the tap with a pop up pump that appears from the floor when you want it.
Under the sink is a cupboard for crockery and pots and pans. Opposite the galley is a short sitting area to use while at the galley, behind this is the wet locker with a clever door which doubles as the dining table and can be mounted inside or in the cockpit. Aft of this on both sides are the quarter berths . The Port berth also contains the flip up chart table and two 12v sockets for navigation equipment the starboard berth has the electronics cupboard above it. The cupboard has been rebuilt by myself and the electrics extensively renovated.
The navigation lights are LED and the Tri Color is a NASA tri led unit. Only the steaming light is an incandescent bulb (as you will be generating power anyway). The mast was completely rewired 2 years ago to tinned wiring for the tri light and high quality coaxel for the VHF antenna, the antenna was also replaced. All my attention has been paid to making her the safest and most reliable vessel she can be.
I would sail her anywhere in the UK and Ireland, if you are looking for a pretty well varnished example for a floating caravan this is not her, the Gelcoat is marked, she's got full safety netting, the winches (x3) don't match but do work well. However if you are an adventurer on a budget looking for something that doesn't need anything important or expensive doing before setting off or are a tinkerer looking for something to day sail and make beautiful this is the boat for you and we will be happy to see her go to you. Viewing We don’t live near Jetstream but will do what we can to arrange viewings and access. Just message. Happy bidding
