Iroquois Catamaran

Iroquois mk2 reduced to £12,500 ONO for quick sale. This Sailcraft Iroquois 30ft catamaran is hull no. 316 is now on the hard at The Marine Group, Port Dinorwic (Y Felinheli) North Wales and will have the hulls powerwashed before antifouling in time for relaunching on April the 8th 2022 where it will be going on to a swinging mooring on the Menai Staits. She was first launched in 1996 after being fitted out internally in mahogany, with a wheel steering system installed, it is rigged with a Carbospar Aerorig with roller furling jib and a fully batoned main with slab reefing. The Aerorig is a free standing carbon fibre mast and boom, it is a very safe and simple sail plan, once the sails have been deployed the whole rig is controlled by one line the main sheet, the jib is self-tacking and works as a slotted sail with the main, the rig allows the helmsman a 360° view when sailing, the sails will start to power up around 45° off wind, if the boat gets to a point where it needs to lose power (say for reefing) letting the main sheet out will start to reduce the sails power, this can be completely let out so the sail weathercocks and has no power at all, conversely pull the main sheet back in and the power will build up.
As with all sailboats the wind direction can supply more power as it interacts with the sails (broad reach etc), on a run the sails are let out so they are square on to the boat and perform like a spinnaker, at this point of sail the wind would need to shift 90° for an unwanted jibe to occur, it also means you can sail upto 90° off the wind with the wind still behind you. The boat comes with a 2.4M Ribeye aluminium hull dinghy and a 3.5hp two stroke outboard engine Recent updates include... Helm station installed in 2017 with all graphical instrumentation displayed on a rugged Panasonic pc tablet, this displays true and apparent wind in dial format, speed over ground, depth, position, satalite data and time of day in numerical format, at the push of a button the screen switches to a chart plotter displaying your position on your choice of chart be it Vector or Rasta using Opencn as the chart plotter, push the button again and your back to the instrumentation screen.
