A well maintained example of this popular sea worthy boat. These GRP boats were manufactured by Island Plastics and are based on traditional fishing boat lines. The hull is heavily constructed and has been fitted with twin steel bilge keels. These give stability in heavy seas and allow her to sit comfortably on a mooring which dries out. These boats were constructed with a number of deck options ranging from commercial fishing boats with a simple wheel house to motor sailors.
“Ripple” has a comfortable forward cabin and a wheel house where seating and the helm are situated. There is a Bowmar hatch and stainless steel mushroom vents which provide ample ventilation. Spot lights are situated throughout to provide lighting. The forward cabin has a twin berth in the bow with storage below, a new sea toilet to starboard and a shelved stowage area to port. The toilet has a holding tank as well as the option to pump out.
The upholstery was completely replaced with new in 2015. The wheelhouse has sliding windows and a Bowmar hatch together with 2 stainless steel mushroom vents. The wheelhouse roof is fitted with a stainless steel radar arch which houses the navigation lights. The helm is situated to starboard. The steering is hydraulic and there are two steering positions – one in the wheelhouse and one in the aft cockpit.
There is a single lever throttle. Wheel house seating consists of a fixed seat and a moveable seat as well as an upholstered engine cover with chart stowage below. Two batteries are located below the cockpit floor and are linked via a switch. A full range of instruments are located within easy reach of the helm. These include – a switched panel controlling deck and cabin lighting, navigation lights and the bilge pumps, a rev counter, ammeter, marine radio, 2 x fixed compasses, horn, Garmin GPS, Hummingbird GPS / Fishfinder, NASA depth log, NASA speed log, radio/CD player.
Ripple has been re-engined with a reliable Perkins 3 cylinder 39hp Diesel engine which has been well maintained and received regular oil changes. Cooling is indirect via a heat exchanger and a new impellor has been fitted at the start of this season. New sea cocks were fitted in 2015. This engine starts first time and is an excellent runner. A plastic Vetus plastic fuel tank is mounted in the stern.
Included in the sale is an 8hp Parsun long shaft outboard and drop down outboard bracket. This was new in 2016 and has only run a few hours. Above deck, stainless steel rails to the bow and the stern together with stanchions to the side decks offer good on deck security. There is an anchor and chain which is operated by an electric windlass.Mooring bollards are located around the boat. A stainless steel mast is equipped with deck lighting which covers both the fore deck and the rear cockpit.
Included in the sale are lifejackets, 2 x horseshoe life buoys mounted on brackets and 1 x round life ring, a selection of warps, spare folding anchor, a full suite of fenders (new in 2016), fire extinguishers, fire blanket. Survey from 2015 available. Ripple is currently moored on the river Medway and is ready to sail away. Alternatively a crane out and transport can be arranged at an additional cost.
