It needed cleaning up and renovating. I planned to renovate for use the following summer. After it was all finished and I had taken her out the once, I, unfortunately, contracted a heart condition which was closely followed up by the Covid pandemic and so she has not been out again and, due to my condition, is just too much for me now. The boat was initially removed and the trailer grinder-brushed down and repainted with some roller brackets and rollers being replaced.
Wheel Bearings were in good order but were cleaned and re-greased along with the braking mechanism. It is now in very good working condition. This trailer make and model is an expensive item in itself. The boat was cleaned but needed no repairs. The working area of the boat has a strong floor which has been cleaned and repainted in a slip resistant deck paint.
That area had no seating and so two bench seats were built for comfort when anchored up. All wooden rails were removed, sanded down and re-coated in three coats of yacht varnish, The front covered cabin area with a lockable door, which is more for storage, was repainted. The windows were replaced so that they are clear without misting or crackle effect and the 'ball' of wiring hanging inside was sorted out to run the port and starboard running lights with a central white running light which stands post mounted on the cabin top.A battery box is included but there is no battery as besides getting the electrics working I did not use them myself. The boat is fitted with a remote steering wheel and cables as well as a remote throttle and gear change mechanism but again I used a tiller steer long shaft 35hp engine which did not require them and so I never fitted them up. The engine is no longer available.
Ensure you check what size outboard the boat will take before you fit one yourself. I believe it will take up to 50hp but you should check yourself. The boat comes with an auxillary outboard motor bracket fitted for use as a fallback if the main engine should go down. I used a Seagull as my spare but again this is no longer available. There is a rear automatic bilge with a cover.
The hull is of a similar design to that used on fast ribs meaning the boat cuts through the water well and planes easily. There is a channel in the floor each side of the boat behind the seats to drain any water that enters the boat away fromthe floor area and into the bilge at the rear. The front launching and recovery winch fitted an a trailer mounting stand has a removable handle. Dimensions 16 feet long by 7 feet beam. The trailer fits the boat well and has new tyres as well as a spare.
The mudguards are serviceable heavy duty soft plastic and at the front and back of each are steps to enable easier access to the boat interior when on the trailer.The brake shoes are in good order and the drums incorporate a hose inlet which connects to a standard hose fitting at the front of the trailer so that the drums may be fresh water rinsed after a trip to the sea. There are two old large lorry lashing ratchet straps for attachment to the road trailer. The boat has been stored under a large full cover tarp to keep the weather off.
