Lightning 368 Single Hander Sailing Dinghy

Lightning 368 with combi trailer name "Strikes Twice" Lying Draycote SC (near Rugby Warwickshire) Complete boat ready to sail with complete hull, needle spar mast and rigging, sail and old but useable combi-trailer. Registered as hull 80 with the Lighting 368 association, this hull was built in 1982 spending most of its life on the south coast before moving to Cumbria and finally Warwickshire for 12 years. Not used for two years so reluctantly selling as I don't have the time for sailing at the moment. Been looked after but could do with a good clean as it has sat for 18 months. Cover is about 7 years old and starting to show signs of wearing out.

Combi trailer is available of required for £30, it is in OK condition but bearings will need replacing soon and tyres need pumping before moving Lightning's are easy to sail and can take two people, but designed as a single hander to compete with a Laser. It is 5kg lighter than a Laser with a centre board rather than the Laser's dagger board which makes for easier sailing. Lovely boat to sail and can keep up with Lasers and Solo's just. It is simple to rig and sail, and performs well against most similar classes. The Class continues to thrive with a friendly and supportive Class Association.The Lightning has some distinct advantages ashore, in terms of its rigging. It is uni-rigged meaning the mast has no stays, making it very quick to step. The Mast slots into a strengthen socket mounted in the foredeck, just drop it in and it’s ready to go, no rigging to set up, or messing about with shroud tensions.
