This is 'Whimbrel', she was built in the 1930's by Summers and Payne, premier boat builders of the time. She is built out of oak and teak. We have have paper work and receipts from the beginning of her history to present day. We have been living on her for two years with the intention of creating a beautiful and functional home within minutes of Brighton city centre. We realised that for very little cost we could have 2 free car parking spaces, free WIFI, free water and no council tax for the the monthly mooring fee of £395 all inclusive! Also comes with a P.O box.
We just pay for electric which costs approx. £400 per year. We have spent two year putting our heart and soul into renovating a beautiful Gentleman's Cruiser that we always realised had the potential to be amazing. We employed a kitchen designer who works on film sets to design the kitchen that can be completely flat packed, build from corrian along with a dining room table that doubles as a double bed for guests.Along with a single bed, sleeping 5 comfortably. There is a separate bedroom that sleeps two.The bespoke furnishings have been created in keeping with a Gentleman's Cruiser from the 1930's.The boat is blue tooth and WIFI enabled and comes with a DAB radio, tv and Playstation 4 and WIFI speakers throughout. As a chef of 25 years the kitchen was very important to be functional.
We have had many dinner parties with the ability to cook for every occasion. This was the main focus of the build at a cost of £8,500. It includes a hot water boiler, micowave/grill, two induction hobs, fridge with freezer compartment, sink and lot's of cupboard space. We have plenty more photo's and are very happy to email to interested parties. The boat was taken out of the water 18 months ago, and there were no issues. It was checked by a boat builder and the hull was sound which we felt was a necessity before spending money on her.We live here with our lovely dog and and have been really happy the past two years and would continue to live here, due to inheritance we have been given an amazing opportunity to get on the property ladder. The facilities at Brighton Marina are amazing. There has been a £300,000 5 star refurbishment of the shower/toilet block facilities which are a 1 minute walk away as is the laundry facility.
The marina is a self contained village including ASDA superstore, many bars, pubs, cafes, restaurants, shops and a gym, and a few minutes walk to the beach. The marina has frequent buses to all parts of Brighton and you can take the 18th century electric Volks railway train from the marina to the pier, which is a lovely way to get into town. Walking along the seafront into town takes 20 minutes or less. This is a live aboard boat, we have had a quote between £300/400 to restore the engine, so could potentially run.Any more details we are happy to provide. Thanks for looking, Sonya and Jon.
