Monarch is available for sale on, or off, her Residential Mooring. The price can be adjusted to reflect the mooring status. Walton Monarch is a 58 x 14 ft, well maintained, ex restaurant and tripping boat. She was built in 1982 at Eel Pie Boatyard in Twickenham. In the last 38 years she has been dry-docked and anti-fouled an incredible 34 times. She has a recent out of water survey which is available to view. The Mooring:She is moored on the Thames, at East Molesey. This is a permanent, fully residential, fully transferable mooring.Exceptionally short walk to Hampton Court train station and Palace, residential parking and local amenities.
There is mains water, electricity, broadband, telephone line, post, parcel deliveries, laundry room, on site.A shared garden area is close to the mooring. Storage sheds are nearby. Mooring fees are stunningly low at only £440 per month ...approx £5300 per year.It gets better... Monarch pays no VAT... ever !! Some technical details:As she was a commercial vessel, most of the systems on this boat are very heavy duty. Really powerful - used on coaches.Hot water - calorifier heated by main engine or 240v shore-power / generator electrics.Cold water - 24v pump.Huge diesel tank, 2 fresh water tanks, 2 pump out tanks. The Layout:There are 3 main deck areas and 2 heads (WCs).Our website has some great layout designs ranging from 1 to 3 cabins and up to 8 berths. We went crazy.... See if you can find the glitter ball or the jacuzzi. Wheelhouse:The compact wheelhouse is at the forward end of the upper deck.
This places it amidships with good visibility and easy access to the 2 main entrances. Steering wheel, engine instruments, fuse boxes and all switches are located here. This means Monarch can be cruised with a crew of 1, i.e. Only the skipper. We usual take at least one more person to make Gin and Tonics for the skipper, and to throw a mooring rope every now and then.
Upper Deck:The upper deck has fantastic 360 degree views over the river. Next to the wheelhouse, an opening window leads outside and on to the forward deck roof. With the addition of handrails, this would make a great outside terrace.Almost all the windows open, including 4 that clip out of the way on the ceiling! This is a brilliant indoor-outdoor space. We have used it as a 3 season lounge.
The addition of a wood burner would make this a fantastic year-round space. Forward Deck:Again, this is a great space in the summer months, as all the canvas sides roll up. You could 'steel' in part, or all, of the sides to create cabin space. We had designed a master bedroom, ensuite and study (inc piano) on this deck. Heads:Located amidships. The Boy heads still has a functioning pump out WC.
The space is smaller as it incorporates the steps leading up to the Summer Deck. The Girl heads has had the WC removed to create a large wet-room or compact bathroom - your choice. Lower Deck:Cosy and warm, especially with a wood stove, (currently removed but still available). It retains the original galley at one end and still has the original benches and 'pub' carpet. We had planned a large galley, dining area with a compact winter lounge and the obligatory solid fuel stove.
Viewing:Please take a look at the website. There are many more photos, layout designs, etc. There is also a section that details all the costs of living aboard. If you would like to view Monarch, do contact us.The mooring is on a private island so viewings are by appointment.
