Lune Pilot Classic Sailing Dinghy

LUNE PILOT by Character Boats.A rare opportunity to own a very attractive "Swallows & Amazons" extremely strong and safe multi-purpose boat, without the hassle of wood. I put 1990 as the age as e-bay required this, but is only a guess. This is for a good example of the legendary Lune Pilot range of traditional styled boats, but built with very heavy GRP. A real head turner.The length is about 11ft plus a removable bowsprit for sailing. This version has a cream coloured GRP foredeck moulding and built-in buoyancy tanks.

The woodwork is heavy duty solid Mahogany seats and trim, with plywood removable bottom boards. A heavy duty rope fender is fitted around the gunwhales offering good protection. Spars are all original and of varnished timber. Sails are of tan coloured Terylene, with an original small jib and a new larger jib giving the choice of safe sloop rig or more exciting cutter rig. The boat has the original very attractive feature Mahogany rudder with laminated swept tiller.

The boat is easily rowed and has rowlock positions and a sculling notch provided. A heavy duty stem fitting and Samson post allow the boat to be easily towed. An outboard motor well is provided, which gives protection to the motor and resists mooring ropes getting ensnared.The boat sails well and has never capsized. It can easily be handled by an adult or youth single handed. The interior was overhauled last winter, being re-painted and all the Mahogany re-varnished to a high standard.A heavy duty tailor made blue canvas cover is provided.

It has a couple of small perforations, but is otherwise good. An attractive lightweight Spruce paddle is included. A good quality "Rapide" adjustable galvanised launching trolley with pneumatic tyres is included, and shown in the photographs, making launching easy, and "piggy backs" on to the road trailer to save double handling. A tailor made heavy duty galvanised road trailer is included. It has been refurbished with new hubs, studs, wheels, tyres, mudguards, complete jockey wheel unit and a winch with warp.

A heavy duty 50mm towing hitch is fitted. This is a good quality unit with the larger wheels and tows really well. The boat and trailer are stored in a barn every winter. This is a really special boat that would appeal to someone who is looking for a traditional looking but strong tender, or just as a family sailing dinghy that is easy to sail and requires minimum maintenance.Please see photographs to assess the general condition. I can deliver a reasonable distance if required for fuel costs.I also have a Tohatsu 3hp 2 stroke outboard motor with only 4 hours use, of the type that is really lightweight and no longer available due to EU laws, which can be purchased by separate negotiation, if required.
