The entire “Amphibious Barge Services” arm of this UK Ltd company is available for sale. The package includes three amphibious barges, a broad range of spares (including extra ramps, gearboxes & cranes, etc.), trading history (chartering at £900/day), stability booklet with provision for cherry picker & hiab crane operations aboard & advice on MCA coding & road licensing if required. There is a library of operations & maintenance manuals, parts lists, proposals, method statements, risk assesments, check list & a comprehensive range of high profile clients & photos of these very capable machines being used in different lines of work. The first barge has been worked by the company i& was kept in MCA code up to 2018. It could be re-coded under a new owners name.
The second has not been used by the company, it was previously lightly used as an “Amphistage”. The third has not been used by the company. They are all in running order. All these “Amphibious Barges” were quality made in Germany (each originally costing £850k-£1.2 million new), are ex British Army Military, are from the late 1980’s, are made in aluminium with the strength to carry army tanks, with an average of about 500 hrs use on each of the engines. There are two 8 cylinder, 8 litre, air cooled Deutz engines driving 3 props (one is a central schottle steering type).
Engines are interchangeable for driving on land or water (they have a full off-road 4x4 & on-road capability) & wheels are fully retractable for use as a barge. On its own a barge can carry 12-14 tons (10.4t coded). It has multiple lockdown watertight compartments. If all 8 ramps are deployed the clear deck space becomes a staggering 6 meters x 16 meters! Two plugged together can carry 32 tons.
A substantial “moon pool” can then also be created in the middle if desired. All can be shown working but each will inevitably need attention before actually being used due to being parked up ashore for some time. As engineers & skipper operators with substantial experience in operating, maintaining & coding these machines, the company can optionally offer further services to a buyer in this respect. The “vehicle” is based on Leyland parts plus the usual marine components for the barge element. A comprehensive range of parts are included in the sale & in future additional new or secondhand parts can be readily sourced at reasonable cost to the buyer.
Viewings of the running machines are available by appointment. Sea trials are available subject to an advance deposit. Offers are invited in the region of £99,000 for the whole. The company are alternatively open to negotiating the sale of individual units if preferred. Please note that due to being ex military (British Army Royal Engineers), limitations will apply to which countries these can be exported to.
NOTE: If you would prefer to charter one or all of these craft with or without a skipper engineer please do let us know & we can pass this information on. This first photo shows the three actual craft included in the sale. These are some descriptions for the photos:Carry people, animals or plant in & out the water...High profile jetty projects run by companies such as Besix & Kier for the Chicargo Bridge & Iron Company (CB&I) South Hook Exxon/ Quatar LNG Jetty Project have been achieved via use of our amphibious craft. Other companies that these Amphibs have supported range from the AMEC and Dragon LNG jetty works, Dean & Dyball to deliver & remove scaffolding in a sensitive SSSI area or the challenging amphibious transportation of materials for Tenby's new Lifeboat Station. The buyer will receive copies of all past proposals, work done, contracts, method statements, risk assesments, manuals, coding details in stability book.4 x 3 Ton cement hods = 12 TonsCherry picker & hi-Ab crane were fitted for under jetty welding, cutting, steel bracings removal:Jetty Pile touch up painting being carried out by Rudders Boatyard using Amphibious craft with cherry pickers fitted at the South Hook LNG site:Going down......... The 6m x 6m clear deck is the perfect craft for a safe & charitable landing:Connected together & use of ramps to deliver a heavy 20 ton tracked lifeboat launcher load:Further information & specifications:The amphibs their own ramps which allow vehicles (including military tanks!) to drive on and be ferried across a river or flood zone. The ramps can also be configured to allow vehicles to drive over it, thereby forming a temporary bridge for two way traffic.
If all 8 ramps are deployed the clear deck spacebecomes a staggering 6m x 16m. Each M2B machine can be interlocked to form a longer bridge or have a clever "moon pool" in the middle. Ramps can be lowered into the water to allow divers to walk on/off, or for plant & machinery to be driven down onto a beach or up onto a river bank.Via it’s skipper and driver, the M2B can hydraulically transition from water to rough terrain or road travel mode almost instantaneously with it’s side pontoons folded or unfolded. The wheels fully retract into the body (hull) for water travel and in “all terrain 4x4” mode, the M2 can have a remarkably high ground clearance of 0.8m and can climb slopes of up to 31 degrees.APPLICATIONSThese amphibious vehicles/ ferries/ bridging systems have already been put into good use in the following commercial environments:Leadership development & teamwork training courses Flood damage, sea defence & rescue work, Ferry for vehicles, plant, equipment, animals & people A great alternative to a multicat, floating platform or self propelled barge. (Max 3 miles offshore recommended). Temporary bridgingRescue craft Dry & portable site for portakabins, stores, etc.
