Macwester 22 Sailboat

Here for sail is my Macwester 22 Sailboat with pontoon mooring if required. The mooring is at Heybridge Basin (near Maldon, Essex) where there are 2 very good pubs and a cafe right alongside. At the marina there are showers and toilets, there is also electrical hook-up. The mooring is paid up to the end of January 2020 so buyer would need to start paying after then. The mooring is about £100 per month.

The boat is a Macwester 22 - we just completed a 40 mile trip just before Christmas - it sails well and both main and jib sail are in good condition (are white). It comes with a 5 hp seagull outboard - the only downside with this is it has no reverse so if I was keeping the boat I would probably change it for a different outboard. It use to have an inboard which was removed long before I had the boat but all the mountings, the shaft and the prop are still in-situ so an inboard could be installed. However I previously had one of these boats that also had an outboard and this set up works really well. The Macwester is a very solid, well-built, sea-kindly yacht which performs well in rough conditions due to its long keel design.

The outside is in overall good condition however it needs a new hatch over the peak cabin, this is currently covered over and is water-tight. The companionway hatch could also do with some work or replacement. The previous owner fitted doors to the companionway which are ok but I prefer weatherboards so have sourced some and they come with the boat. Inside requires new headlining (carpeting) to the deck head (roof) The old lining has been removed so is ready to accept the new one. The floor has been recovered in the front cabin and the toilet, and the main cabin could do with re-doing or alternatively just a piece of carpet.

All cushions are present and in good condition. If you do not wish to use the mooring I know a guy who has a crane just up river where the boat can be taken out and put on your trailer. He charges about £100. Or you could take the boat round to Brightlingsea and use the slipway there. I could help with taking the boat round to either place if the buyer wasn't confident.
