Description:
A rare opportunity to acquire a motor yacht of unique design, combined with great sailing qualities. Tarryon is a Macwester Pelagian 33’ (nearly 10 metre) ketch-rigged (two masted) yacht, powered by two 50 HP Bowman Commander engines, running off two, long-range, 40 gallon diesel tanks. With five standard berths in two double cabins plus a saloon berth, she also offers two 6’ berths in the large, enclosed centre cockpit in fine weather. A full 10 year survey has just been carried out and she passed with flying colours, with some very encouraging compliments from the surveyor. Built of hefty GRP in 1972 to a superb and exacting standard, her first owner was a Peer of the Realm, so she was very highly specified as sail number 3 of only 30 ever built. Some of her original, interesting documentation is available, along with the current ownership documentation. This is the ulitmate in comfortable, live-aboard yachting with bags of get-you-home-safe power. The following modifications were made by the previous owner - a Mechanical Engineer - who significantly re-built her in 2010: •Installed 2 x 50 HP Bowman Commander engines with a full suite of Vetus instruments each.•Relocated ‘wash-stop’ (ie, U-bend equipped) exhausts to the transom to optimise power.•Welded stabilising ‘hydro-plane’ around the stern to optimise performance under power.•Adapted the hull for a pair of beaching legs, including cockpit access to leg bolt-on points. The current owner has recently carried out the following significant improvements: •New standing rigging installed in Nov 2020.•Coated upper guard-rails fitted in Dec 2020.•Cockpit awning zips renewed in Jan 2021.•Sails professionally laundered in Feb 2021.•Six new anodes (prop shaft x 2, hydro-plane x 2, hull x 2) fitted in Mar 2021.•New shore power socket fitted & re-wired to the cockpit bulkhead in Apr 2021.•Three new 110 amp engine starter batteries (3 year warranty) installed in May 2021. Other features include: •Gold-anodised masts & booms; Cockpit-accessible winches; Extensive suit of sails, including: Slab-reefed, fully battened mainsail, furling Genoa, storm jib, covers, spares, winch-handles.•Bruce 7.5kg main anchor with 50m chain; Bruce 5kg kedge anchor with warp & chain.•Dual-speed anchor windlass on foredeck.•Hydraulic lifting plate to adjust draft.•Eberspacher diesel heating system.•Coach roof & heavy-duty awning.•Huge amounts of storage.Extensive Inventory includes: •Navigation lights.•Northstar DSC VHF.•Stowe Navsounder depth-sounder.•Stowe Navigator speed/distance log.•Stowe Navtrac compass & Plastimo gimballed compass.•Masthead Trilight, Windex & VHF antenna (all new 2021).•Raymarine (was Nautech) AH3000 Autohelm & full instructions.•Shore-power heavy-duty, inline metered cable, extension & spare parts.•Ruggedized & clamped Apple iPad 2 loaded with Wartsila iSailor GPS charts.•Clock and Barometer. Stereo radio & CD with speakers (disconnected at present).•Six person Plastimo life-raft with mounting cage - currently stowed within stern cabin.•New Hydro Force Caspian 2.3m dinghy with captive oars, rapid pump & outboard transom.•Old but working (with minor fuel leak) Johnson 2.5hp outboard motor on pushpit rail clamp. •Two 130a service batteries, trickle charger, twin coil hot water calorifier/immersion heater.•Private Heads compartment off saloon featuring full sea-loo with spare handle & warm cover.•Gimballed, gas oven/grill/rings; Electrolux fridge; 20” flat-screen TV (HDMI to USB, no aerial).•Folding dining table (can be stowed in Heads); Small, round coffee table fits into same socket.•Stainless steel sink with hot & cold mixer tap; Washing-up bowl; Crockery/cutlery/pans etc. Safety Equipment includes: •Fire extinguishers x 2 in saloon (both engine compartments have their own in situ).•Horseshoe lifebuoys x 2 (one fitted to pushpit rail but can be deployed anywhere).•Safety harnesses x 2 (one old one and one brand new one).•Lifejackets x 3 (not the unreliable CO2 bottle type!).•Transom Swim ladder (last serviced in 2021).•Folding boarding ladder (with toe-rail hooks).•Bosun’s chair (for ascending the mast).•Fenders (2 x balloon; 4 x large bottle).•Various warps, spare sheets & ropes.•Various signal flare sets.•Automatic bilge pump.
