Mirage 28 Yacht Project

Hi everyone, again.,.. Please don't bid and win the sale then tell me you will pay in 3 weeks time!!! Time wasters just annoy me and it's not fair on genuine people.I require payment within 24 hours or a deposit to hold. If you can't do either then you shouldn't be bidding. I am open to serious offers. This is a Mirage 28, yacht project.

I bought this to eventually renovate but as I have another boat, I'm just not finding the time for Tartan. So the discription is going to be honest and then there is no confusion as to what your bidding on. So firstly I will tell you that the engine is free and untested. I believe it's a Volvo. There is a built in diesel tank.

The remote controls are present and connected. The prop doesn't have any play and turns freely. Onto the hull. There is no sign of osmosis and the anodes are present. The rudder has a bit of play, and the tiller is missing.

The hull is in good shape as is the topsides,apart from the algea. The seacock outlets will need changing as they show signs of pinking. The keel bolts with nuts are rusty, but I've checked them and the keel seal and they are perfectly serviceable. The rigging is stainless and in great shape, along with the mast, boom lewmar single speed winches and alloy cleats etc. So just a deck pressure wash and it's as good as new.

The mast electrical wires need wiring through the deck and there is no sign of 12v electrics aboard. 240v shore power is fully fitted aboard along with a fuse box. So it will need Nav lights and a depth sounder,also a VHF. Hatch slides back nice, but the glass washboard will need changing as personally I think it's deadly on a boat. I have a blue spray hood that zips on and just needs a clean.The ropes have had it and will need changing.

Also no sail's. It's a fractional rig. Down below needs a scrub and forward bed cushions need to be made. The gallery has a sink and tap with a fresh water tank. Not tested.

The interior walls and ceiling needs cleaning, a portable toilet is aboard, but sea toilet seat cocks are there, opposite the heads is a heater and was originally a sink which is missing. Two TVs are aboard Which work. The floor access panels need sanding and painting. The hull and keel needs sanding lightly and primer and antifouling to complete.The sides of the hull above the water line are in great shape, but do have some nicks and will need either rubbing down and gel coat filling, or just leave them as the gel coat is in good condition. If you are a competent person with DIY, and want a really nice looking, strong well respected yacht, then Tartan can be restored to her former beauty.

It would take me realistically about 4 months at a couple of days a week, and about £1500 to put her back in the water looking amazing. I only buy new equipment if it's needed, the non important items, I would source second hand. The rent is £161 a month at Watchet marina, including the cradle. There is shore power, water, showerss, toilets, laundry and parking. The staff are very friendly and willing to help anytime.

The rent is paid up to the end of Feb. I really don't want to part with Tartan, but I can't find any spare hour's. These boats command well over £10,000 in working clean condition, so please don't hesitate to ask any questions, as I will answer them honestly and to my best ability.Headroom inside is about 6,2 and beam is about 10 ft. Cockpit lockers are all good and have various spares. Kitchen needs a cooker and there is a cool box built in.

240v lighting throughout. So to sum up,Please please please, don't be afraid to ask questions as I want Tartan to go to someone who genuinely appreciates yachts and what they are about. To see Tartan sailing again is the aim and looking fantastic.To own a mirage 28 is an Envy of many a boaty person I can tell you. Bidding is realistic as to the starting price and yes I am open to serious offers, I won't stop the listing until the monies have exchanged, otherwise it will be sold to the highest bid.
