Mk1 Rigid Raider 1980s Made by RTK Marine, a subsidiary of Halmatic, part of BAE Systems Surface ShipsOriginally this had 2 x 140hp diesel outboards so it is super safe with the 90hp and VERY fast. This thing is built like a tank, it has brass running strips along the hull too so you can literally slide up the slip if you wish, step off dry feet and wind her on to the roller coaster trailer. This boat was JHSU Unit 024 - Joint Helicopter Support Unit (Unit was roughly 1982 to 1990’s based RAF Odiham) basically supporting the Chinook heli being used with underslung loads, tricky logistical deployments into all sorts of locations. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ This is an extract of the specs… https://www.eliteukforces.info/uksf-gear/rigid-raider/ The Royal Marines use rigid raiders for rapid beach and riverbank insertions and extractions as a coastal and river patrol boat. Army engineers also use Rigid Raiders.
Their lightweight construction means that a small team of men can carry the boats, even with engines attached. Rigid Raiders can also be air-dropped out to sea. Rigid Raiders are manufactured by RTK Marine who are part of the VT group. Rigid Raider Craft (RRC) Specifications Mk1 Weight 0.87 tonnes Length 5.2m Speed 30 kts (fully laden) 50 kts (light) Capacity coxswain + 8 troops or 2000 lbs of stores Engine1x or 2x 140hp outboard diesel motors------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ 90hp 1994? Desiged to carry coxwain plus 8 troops or coxwain and well over tonne of weight Perfect for diving, leisure or beach assaults with the family :) This thing floats in nothing, you can nose into a sandy beach step off and its still floating. Dry feet in shoes!! I was told it was in service and then maintained and used for training by cadets following service it then went to a deep sea diver then me. Two Quick release red Quiksilver tanks that fit under bungee at the back in the original location. Old School Compass can be wired for backlight but isnt at present I dont think 10w Solar panel and charge controler to maintain battery on mooring or in yard New Marine battery fitted New auto switch and bilge pump fitted so it reliably bails itself out NEW Etch and Antfoul about three months ago No GPS or Fish Finder Easy to throw what your preference is on though... Under the floor is an airtight chamber with foam in it, I had it on the mooring all summer and didnt get any water out of the sealed hull section at all its watertight.
Trailer has literally had new bearings, brakes, cables, nuts the lot at over £600 by a local trailer company so it is ready to tow anywhere. (Wheels could do with a blast and powder coat or paint) There is a tin of green drab in the console I havent repainted any of the interior of the deck but it would have been in matt drab camo not that grey thats worn through, I liked it as it is with the original patina. Boat is on land at Penmaenmawr (Sea trial possible for serious buyers if a deal is done and its deposited subject to sea trial) (can run up engine with muffs for as long as you need) Reason for sale I sold my old boat and regretted it, told the guy if he ever sold it to call me first and that call came three years later (now) don’t need two boats so this one is going if i get my money back on it or it stays till summer and I will auction it during the boat hunt madness for a profit… No silly offers or stories about what its worth, I know they dont come about like this!!
