Firstly take a look at where our Moody 30 is based - http://www.greece-is.com/20-ways-to-fall-in-love-with-lefkada/ We have owned Claerwen for 5 years and have had wonderful times. She is UK SSR Registered and classed as VAT paid - I have the documents.Work commitments have restricted me to only three weeks a year for the past 2 years, so I have taken the very reluctant decision to sell her. We have extensively improved Claerwen since we bought her, which includes the following:- New Beta marine 30HP engine, sail drive & 3 blade prop (start of season 2013) - currently has run about 280 hours - very carefully run in and meticulous servicing - Upgraded with 120A Alternator and Deluxe Control Panel at time of purchase. Http://betamarine.co.uk/portfolio-item/beta-30-saildrive/2 x 80w Solar Panels on Gantry above cockpit, 1 Engine and 3 Leisure Batteries. Plastic 110 ltr Fuel tank.
New fuel lines and filters. Removed the old Gas water geezer and fitted a Calorifier which heats water from engine or shore power. New switch panel and part re-wire (switch panel now above coffin berth). Bimini. Lazy Jacks for main Sail. Modification for lines back to cockpit.
Mostly LED lighting inside cabin. Binnacle cockpit Table. Lofrans Cayman 1000w Windless - with anchor controls in Cockpit and Fore-peak - 60 metres of 8mm Chain.Toilet replaced & Fresh water pump replaced 2016Radio Ocean DSC VHF, Navtex, (original additional Garmin 120 GPS in Saloon)Raymarine 50D Plotter & Depth Sounder mounted on Binnacle Other equipment includesFridge (solar panels allow us to keep this on 24 hours a day - coldest beers in the Ionian Sea)!!! Sails a in reasonable usable conditionLoads of ropes fenders etc. Mooring and other costsI've had lots of questions regarding mooring costs....... Well 'technically' it's nothing for mooring....... it is free to anchor in the bay (where the boat lives in the summer), however, I pay a company (Vliho Yacht Club - www.vlihoyc.com ) circa 120 Euro a month (whilst Claerwen is in the water) to look after the boat, whilst I am back in the UK and she is at anchor.
Yard Costs for the winter are circa 1200 Euro. There are boats that stay in the bay all year and don't have to pay anything. I don't do any work on the boat (through choice) and have VYC do everything for me. I guess with everything done for me and VYC doing Guardianage, lifting and de-rigging at the end of the season - then re-rig, anti-foul, engine servicing general maintenance etc, I guess I pay circa £2.5k - £3k per year for everything. Clearly the more you do yourself, the cheaper it is!
Claerwen was fully serviced when she was lifted onto the hard in October 2016 and all outstanding jobs and snag list completed - I have invoices to prove this - So apart from a coat of anti-foul she is ready to go. I ALWAYS keep the boat in excellent order and no expense has been spared on maintenance in the last 5 years. The standing rigging has been inspected every year I have owned the boat and no issues have been reported. All maintenance work (in fact all work) is carried our professionally by Vliho Yacht Club www.vlihoyc.com who also do the Guardiennage on Claerwen when I am back in the UK. Claerwen is a very safe capable yacht - we were novice sailors when we bought her and we have always felt very safe in her - even when the weather has kicked up.
I have the Survey we had done when we bought her - I can supply a copy if required. The perspex saloon windows have a vertical crack, which was sealed with Silicon some years ago. On the basis the are not leaking, I have not replaced them. The island of Lefkas and the Ionian sea is a wonderful area for sailing. There are no tides and lots to do and see - most tavernas with a quay wall are generally free to moor and stop at and often they will assist you with mooring lines etc.
In the summer you can fly into Preveza the local airport (from Birmingahm, Manchester & Gatwick) -then about 30 mins by car from Preveza Airport to where the boat is currently. You can also fly into Corfu or Kefalonia to get out there in the summer. Off season, flights go into Thessaloniki and Athens (about a 4 hour drive). The guys at Vliho yacht club are brilliant, is't a great base with good food, beer and good company from other sailors and visitors. VYC can advise you on anything, from where to sail or any local knowledge etc.
They take care of everything on Claerwen for me - and know the boat inside out - as they have maintained her for the past 5 years. I have a copy of the survey we had done in 2011 when we bought Claerwen - lots has been done to her since - but if you are genuinely interested and require a copy, please contact us. This is a genuine boat and if you look at our feedback - you will see that we are Genuine People. If you have any questions or require more pictures or information - please call me on 0phone There is an English surveyor based at Lefkas marina if you require a survey done prior to purchase. Payment by Bank Transfer ONLY Thank you for looking.
