Hello, my name is Daniel and I hope your well. So you must be looking for a houseboat to live on if you have found my advert? This boat is currently laying in Bath UK on the river Avon, I am open to offers and available to show you around most of the time, but please do call prior for any test run Emarelda is a one off, very unique boat which has been converted into a live aboard boat with a brand new 4 year boat safety certificate. The riveted galvanized steel hull is an original life vessel from a cruise ship dated 1932 but in very good condition! If you dont know much about this let me tell you that because its galvanized it means it does not rot and this is obvious with a visual inspection!
The all steel top has been added at a later date with mild steel and is also in good condition Esmerelda is 25 foot long, which seems short, but she is a foot wider than a narrowboat giving her a spacious feel inside, with full head height of around 6 foot. The hot water is supplied via a calorifier tank which is heated from the engine and this stays hot for some 6 hours! Providing a comfortable shower, which has a stainless steel shower tray. Inside the main cabin and as you can see from the photographs, there is a 2 ring hob, with grill and oven, small but effective multifuel stove which will take wood and coal, a decent sized cupboard for clothes, and large kitchen unit with three shelves inside and good storage for food. There is a 2000 watt inverter with two plug sockets for 240v power and 4 usb sockets.
There is also a usb socket on the solar regulator which means you can charge your phone directly from the sun without effecting your battery! Out the back a canopy covers the engine bay which houses a very reliable Perkins diesel engine which starts on the button, even in the cold so will not drain your battery power This is also charged up by a 150 watt solar panel. All in all this is compact but well layed out boat and will make a good live aboard for a single person, the bed is big enough for two adults comfortably just to mention.Other benefits of this boat are, due to its length it can be turned around anywhere along the canal or rivers without having to find a winding hole. This is very convenient and time saving if you need to fill up with water or go along in the ither direction. In some cases with a longer boat a winding hole could be a cruise away and sometimes this could involve droppi g down through a lock, just to turn around!
There are a couple of negatives with Esmarelda. There is a cracked window at the front and the steering wheel helm needs looking at. I currently steer using the tiller which actually gives better control, so for me the steering wheel helm has not been at all important and the cracked window does not leak. Both are an easy fix. A new heavy duty helm will cost around £100 and a replcement window can bepurchased and cut to size through any glazier.
Please contact me on phone to arrange a test run. Thanks for looking
