Featured Refinements: Trailer Sailer
This year is a Pirate Express that had professional upgrading done to it. Pirate 17 trailer sailer, designed by Ian Proctor. Proctor was already famous for his classic dinghy designs such as the Wayfarer, Osprey, Gull, Wanderer, Topper, Bosun, Kestrel and Tempest, and the Nimrod trailer-sailer. 1. All wood in the structure of the boat has been replaced with composite plastics ( this boat can sit under water for almost forever and not rot)2. All fittings, screws and bolts are marine grade stainless steel - no rust !
3. Marine grade stainless steel has been fiber glassed in the roof of the cabin to enlarge the space inside, the previous space eating wood has been removed.4. The solid windows has been replaced with porthole windows that can open and insert fresh air.5. The hatch door is thick 10 mm plexiglass, so you can look up at the stars at night if you sleep on the boat.6. Painted and treated with toplac paint that will last years.7. Brand new tires on the trailer.8.
Comes with complete rigging, masts, sails, tiller ext.9. We used it also in the Northfolk broads and the Thames with only an outboard engine.10. It is a day sailer so you don't need mooring, you can launch and retrieve the boat easily 11. Comes with 12 volt system battery and LED lights on the inside and LED navigation lights on the outside with a LED light on the top of the mast.12. Inside of the boat is carpeted with durable outdoor carpet that can get wet.
Extra cushions on it will not slide off.13. The boat sleeps 3 easily but with a push 4,5 depends if they are kids or adults. The sleeping area has been enlarged from the original design.14. The hanging table converts into a bed.15. The only thing that needs done to make the boat in 100% condition is to replace the front plexiglass which got a crack in.
The boat is in excellent condition, if you are looking for a cheap project boat, this is not it. Only the best materials in restoration has been used. 1 tin of 750 ml toplac paint costs £30-40, so restoration is very expensive, unfortunately. If you like sailing or motoring down the Thames or Norfolk broads, this might be for you. Please don't bid if you are not 100% commited.
