For sale or rent. Pirate themed boat offering a uniquely versatile and large amount of interior and exterior space. 6 months paid mooring agreement included in sale, longer mooring arrangement to be negotiated between purchaser and boatyard management. Bespoke designed by a Chartered Structural and Civil Design Company and built using a purpose designed 60 ft 'teardrop' steel hull with a steel skeleton superstructure. All technical drawings and plans can be made available at an appropriate stage.
Externally lined and then clad with Cumaru, a responsibly forested (FSC) South American hardwood with excellent properties and internally lined and then clad with upcycled softwoods. Due to the materials used, the boat is warm in the Winter and cool in the Summer. All internal floors, walls and ceilings have been treated with a UK and EU certified fire retardant. Main interior deck 9 metres (30 ft) x 4.5 m (15 ft) narrowing to around 2.5m. This could make a spacious and unique open plan living and kitchen area and is currently accessed by a ramp which can be easily removed.
Also on the lower deck is an 'L' shaped room measuring around 4m x 5m narrowing to around 3.2m. It is currently decorated as a children's party area but can easily be re-decorated to serve as a bedroom. A further space on the lower deck is a level access WC which at 3m x 2m could be a bath/shower room with WC and basin. There are two lockable storage cupboards also on the lower deck. Steps lead to the upper open deck which, at 9m x 4.5m provides a superb open and versatile entertaining space.
The upper deck leads to a bridge which provides access to another large area 5m x 4.5m narrowing to around 3.5m. This could provide a large bedroom area or could even be split into two rooms. Externally, hull length is 18m with overhang taking it to just under 20m in overall length, it has a maximum beam of 5m narrowing gradually to the bow and to around 3.2m at the stern. It weighs around 38 tons of which around 6 tons is ballast. It is an extremely stable vessel and has been successfully tilt/inclination tested, the test certificate will be made available at an appropriate stage. No engine is fitted as the vessel was designed to be permanently moored so a suitable mooring would probably be desired.
The vessel was designed and built to offer a unique, safe and fun cafe/party venue for children and families, it was designed to conform to current safety and inclusivity standards, not to replicate an authentic 'pirate ship'. Although the vessel was granted consent to trade by the Planning Committee at Gloucester City Council, we were unable to gain the necessary permit from Canal & River Trust. The vessel was informally valued by a qualified Boat Surveyor/Valuer three years ago at £250,000 and could represent an excellent investment if the necessary mooring and consents to trade as a business were obtained elsewhere in the future. All rooms have lighting fitted but further electrical and plumbing work would be necessary dependent on its use. Due to the large roof area, it may be possible to instal solar panels as an alternative power source.
All of this can be arranged and negotiated within the price. Likewise, a Boat Safety Certificate can be organised once its use has been established. As you might appreciate with a vessel of this construction, maintenance is ongoing, some of this could be reduced by painting rather than oiling or varnishing the exterior wood. Due to a change in personal circumstances and the distance I now live from the boatyard, it is difficult for me to spend time working on the boat. Any necessary work can either be arranged by myself or negotiated within the price. All furniture and memorabilia seen in the photos will be removed prior to sale or negotiated within the price.
As the vessel is in a working boatyard with cranes and other heavy equipment, viewing is strictly by prior arrangement only. The boatyard owner and staff will not tolerate people entering the premises without prior notice from me.Please email email for further information.
