Plancraft Sabre Ski Boat, 75hp Chrysler Outboard & Trailer - Unfinished Project.

For sale is a Plancraft Sabre that I somehow got talked into buying a few years ago, only to find the transom/floor were rotten and the trailer was falling apart! The amount of work/money that has been put into the boat is incredible. The floor timbers to half way up the boat have been replaced and a heavy duty bespoke transom board manufactured by a pattern maker friend of mine. This was all then re-encapsulated in fibreglass by a professional boat builder.

Whilst we were doing all this the interior was sent away for retrim and the transom bracket to a machine shop. Unfortunately the trim shop (who only do bus seats) got stuck when it came to the front bucket seats and so after waiting two years (yes, really) I decided to finish them myself. The transom bracket also took a long time to come back, but the engine is hanging on the back again and it tilts to and fro and swivels as it should now. As well as a complete retrim, the floor has all been recovered and the dash finished in carbon look vinyl. The engine fired up when we first had the boat and was running fine, but it hasn't run for 3 years now.

The trailer has new suspension units, hubs, wheels/tyres and mudguards. So, after many hours hard work and around £2000 laid out I have come to do the electrics, steering and general finishing off... and basically, I've lost interest. Work to do: It requires the fuel tank & lines refitting, and all the electrics refitting (repairing behind the dash. The throttle and steering wheel/mechanism/cables also need fitting and repairing as necessary. Obviously there are all the other little bits of finishing as well, but the point is all the MAJOR work and cost are taken care of.

It's pretty much just man hours required now, I'd say. So there you have it. I don't have to get rid of the boat and I'm not stuck for space. It's just work demands/motivation that are preventing me finishing it, so I'm happy to cut my losses. And, because I didn't want to go another summer without a boat I have now got a share in a Sealine S23.

In all honesty I'm too old for a speedboat and the Sealine is far more suitable, so hopefully the Sabre will go to a good home. Viewing is obviously recommended. CASH ON COLLECTION ONLY If you're not 100% happy on inspection I am happy to cancel the transaction, so you can buy with confidence.
