Engine Manufacturer: Suzuki
Boat Type: Speed Boat
For sale 16 ft timber power boat. 40hp outboard. Last used 2003 by dad, he died 2004. Mam died in 2022, just getting round to clearing the place. Constructed by dad in 1983, marine ply screwed & glued onto mahogany frame.
Very well made. Suzuki 40 4 stroke power trim & tilt, fitted late 90s / early 00s and not used very much - as can be seen in the pictures it’s immaculate under the lid. Engine started and run, as pictures show; the engine dealer who sold it back then tells me the water pump impeller should be changed even though the telltale squirt is working; Mr Google says a kit costs around 40 quid and Mr Youtube says it’s not that much of a job. And engine oil of course. The steering cable is seized, that would need to be freed off or replaced.
Spare engine is original 1983 Yamaha 2hp 2 stroke. Though I haven’t test run that, there’s nowt on those to go wrong but I guess the same advice applies regarding the water pump. Various other items as per the pictures - plastic fuel cells, spare prop, fishing gear, the original engine tool kit, a box with hub parts in for the trailer, a VHF and so on. There is also a fish finder (untested) and another VHF (also untested) fitted. Trailer as seen, indespension units and old BL hubs.
Could do with a check of the hubs before you drive it away, and some new rollers. Needs a new jockey wheel. I recall the whole lot was weighed once at around 700kg, so no brakes needed, which is handy. It needs some TLC - a good rub down, some touching up and new paint. Similar for the trailer, but as there are no brakes it should be a lot easier.
Don’t forget a new screw in drain plug - the electric bilge pump won’t keep up if you go out without that. An ideal project with a nice boat at the end for probably not very much. This needs to go, we have a clearance to get through, so no tyre kickers please. There is a bit of scope for checking it out by arrangement over the course of the auction (mainly daytime up to Sun 3 Nov then late afternoon after that. You will need a round post battery if you want to start the engine as I borrowed one to test it.
The onus is on you to check out the trailer so it’ll get to your house OK. Advertised elsewhere so may end auction early, but if not, bag yourself a bargain. I don't usually go for Buy It Now offers, but if you offer me a stack of cash I'd bend that rule. But let's be clear, it's buyer beware and up to you to check it out, I don't want any nonsense later like you get off some folks on here.
