Good news. The 4 week waiting list for Roller Bunks is over for the time being, as we are now fully stocked with all models. These are genuine authentic Roller Bunks. The Roller Bunk system is approaching its 15th year and has provided its users with the ability to launch and recover their boats with the ultimate of ease. There are now thousands of Roller Bunk systems in service throughout Europe and you don't have to go too far to find them in the UK. It was originally developed to replace bunk or non-effective roller trailers with the option of conversion to a full blown multi-roller. It was soon apparent that the hybrid design of the Roller Bunk exceeded the performance of a standard multi-roller and apart from the addition of the pivot limiter on the roller brackets some years ago, the Roller Bunk is still as originally designed and still the most affordable and efficient way to launch and recover your boat with ease.
How Roller Bunks workAll Roller Bunks are manufactured from bespoke aluminium extrusion, cast alloy and thermo plastics. The tracks have an angle pressed into the profile at the stern position where there are two parallel pairs of pivoting rollers that keep your bow in the central position for recovery. The cast alloy wing brackets placed along the tracks have a pivot limiter just off centre of the pivoting bolt hole. This feature has completely eradicated the problem of the rollers being at the wrong angle when recovering. The bow of your hull is trapped between the tracks which enables your boat to resist fast running cross currents and side slide when trying to recover. As the hull moves forward along the tracks your boat is naturally being self centred ensuring that your bow is in line with your snubber at the end of the recovery.
The RangeThere are 4 models within the standard range.RB20 - This model is ideally suited for the smaller boat and PWCs. There are 20 individual rollers placed over two 2m long tracks.RB24 - This model is designed to take the smaller 15' - 17' boats carried on unbraked trailers. There are 24 individual rollers placed over two 2.5m tracks.RB28 - This model is probably the most popular of all the RB models. It will comfortably take the heavier 17'-20' boats, with its extra capacity of 28 individual rollers placed over two 2.5m tracks.RB32 - This model is a versatile system designed to take the heavier boat. It can be supplied in three different track lengths to accommodate the cross-members on the larger trailers.
It is also often supplied with three mounting brackets to help spread the track loading when necessary. Non-standard solutions. There are certain situations where the trailer is of a non-standard design or the crossbeams are of a non-standard size or simply the boat is bigger than the limitations of the standard models. In these cases we provide non-standard brackets together with longer tracks and roller beds when required. Shallow water recoveryThe Roller Bunk is designed to facilitate shallow water and beach recovery. The tracks are angled down on the stern ends to pick up the bow at floatation level.
The tracks work in a similar way to a garage car ramp, allowing a progressive self- aligning entry onto the trailer. The Roller Bunk is unrivalled when recovering from low water conditions. To see a Roller Bunk in action click the following link https://youtu.be/59rxn8zdSOM InstallationThe fitting of Roller Bunks is quite simple and does not take very long. The old bunks/rollers are removed and the bunks are placed at the desired width and height. There are only two socket/spanner sizes required - 17 for the 10mm bolts and 13 for the 8mm bolts.
If your trailer has keel rollers they can be left in position but the Roller Bunk does not need them for support. If you need to fit the Roller Bunks with your boat on your trailer, you accomplish this by jacking up your boat, removing the existing bunks/rollers and fitting the new Roller Bunks. It is however easier and faster if you can fit them when the boat is off the trailer. When it is not practical to get the boat off the trailer, many people launch their boat and then install the Roller Bunks at the water.
