Rydgeway Pirate 17ft Sailing Boat Project. With Custom Built Trailer.

For sale is my 17ft Pirate sailing boat. Drop keel model. - Designed by Ian Proctor. Manufactured by Rydgeway Marine (UK). - Build date believed to be 1975.

- Length: 17.25ft/5.26m - Width: 6.78ft/2.07m - Draft: (drop keel up 2ft/0.61m; drop keel down 4.7ft/1.45m) This was my first boat and bought to help me learn about boats and sailing. Photos show it both in the water and at the boatyard in dry dock. As can be seen from the photos, she would properly be described as a project, although with the exception of one sheared bolt on the keel which needs replacing and resealing, she would be completely watertight and could be pressed into use quite quickly if absolutely necessary. Realistically, she needs a lot of love and attention to sort some of the lumps and bumps she has gained over the last 44 years. The bow particularly could do with some repair and reprofiling before a repaint.

However, this would be a terrific project for the right person – I have lots of info on this boat including copies of a number of historic sales brochures and magazine reviews. Included in the sale: - The boat herself - Full set of mast and sails - Custom built foldable road trailer (estimated value £1500+ by itself) Please note: boat does not come with any engine. I am not asking much for this boat but do want her to go to a good home. The Pirate is currently on her trailer in a boatyard in Christchurch. If the new owner does not want to collect and tow themselves, I can help organise delivery (at buyers cost) – there are a couple of local boat transporters around here I could get quotes from.
