Drop me a message, come and view before making an offer. Far Star is in only her third ownership from new in 1992. Each of the first two owners had her 11 years each. We bought her in January 2015. Two of the three co-owners circumstances have changed resulting in the yacht unexpectedly being presented to the market.
The Starlight 35 holds an envied reputation for her seakeeping and sheer sailing ability, and sails quickly wherever she goes! Overall length 36’ 1”.(11.0m) Length on deck 35’. Beam 11’6”. Wing keel shallow draft 4’9”. Sloop rigged with heavy gauge SS standing rigging.
140% furling Genoa (UV strip renewed in 2016). Adjustable Genoa cars. Mainsail with full battens and rutgersen ball cars, three Reefing points, lazy jack lines and zip up lazybag. Cruising chute with snuffer and sheets With Removable Bow Sprit. Main sheet winches are Lewmar 46ST, Halyard winches are Lewmar 30ST.
All rigging lines are controlled from the cockpit via 7 halyard clutches to port and 7 to stbd. Deck Equipment Lewmar Electric anchor windlass fitted in bow locker with 30 m chain. 35lb CQR anchor. A second anchor, 7kg danforth style with warp is stored in the lazarette. Navigation lights at deck level (bow port and stbd new 2017) with steaming light.
Also mast top tri nav light. Boat Hook. Webbing jack stays. 8 fenders. Mooring warps.
4 dock lines. Cockpit : She had new Deck-King “synthetic teak” cockpit floor and cockpit seats fitted in 2014. Large cockpit locker to port contains rot proof ‘plastic’ fuel tank, hot water tank, and holding tank with room for storm jib and cruising chute. Separate gas locker holds two gaz bottles (vent to outside). Two large lazarette lockers astern of helm position.
The starboard lazarette holds the dinghy and warps. To Starboard is another separate locker for storing outboard motor fuel and funnels etc (vents to outside). Wheel steering with auto helm autopilot and magnetic steering compass. Suite of Autohelm speed depth wind instruments over the companionway. Perkins Parama 30 hp 3 cylinder Diesel engine driving through a recently reconditioned (2017) Hurth gearbox and an aqua drive (with new gaiter 2017) unit connected to a 1” diameter prop shaft to a fixed pitch 2 bladed propeller.
The cutlass bearing was new in 2015. The rot proof ‘plastic’ diesel fuel tank holds 30 gallons (136 Litres). She has the standard interior layout with double berth in forward cabin with vanity wash basin, two singles in the saloon with lee cloths, and double berth aft to stbd. Locker and shelving in both cabins. New blue curtains were fitted in the saloon 2016.
Heads to aft port. Fitted with sea toilet and holding tank.(via diverted valve, and macerate pump, with content gauge). Wash basin tap doubles as shower head. Electric shower sump pump out. Galley has recent two burner gas cooker with oven and grill (2013).
Refrigerated cold box. Hot and cold water via calorific heated from engine. New domestic water pump fitted July 2015. Shore power with battery charger and mains connection lead. 13amp plug socket(s) outlets in each cabin.
Navigation station has large chart table with cubby outboard to port for almanacs etc. Electronic Systems include Garmin 4010 colour gps with radar, and AIS (2016) Rx + Tx with its own dedicated antenna. Standard Horizon DSC vhf with cockpit extension mic. Auto helm repeater with depth, log, speed. NASA Navtex and Meteoman showing barometric pressure and history/trend (both2015/6).
12 Volt charger outlet. SAFETY EQUIPMENT Seago 6 person life-raft stored on deck (last serviced 2015) Avon Red Start round tail lightweight dinghy made in ‘hypalon‘ with two piece wooden oars, and mercury 3.3hp outboard. EPIRB with gps new in 2016. Life rings with light x 2 Inflatable Danbuoy. Throw bag/line and SS holding bracket.
Anchor ball, motoring cone. Hand Held Icom vhf and 12 v charger lead. Manuals for almost everything! She is a joy to sail and completed the short circuit round Britain last summer thro the Caledonian canal.
