28 foot Kent Yule Sailing Boat 'DOLPHIN' - modernised and restored to a quite a good standard (see photos). She is not a project as such, just some finishing work and some minor work on the engine - which I will fully explain below; plus I have reflected this in the price. The last bidder/winner did not pay, so I have had to relist it again - please pay if you are the winning bidder. I have relocated because of work and am no longer in a position to complete. She is in the water at Wakering Boatyard, Bullman's Wharf, at Southend-on-Sea, Essex.
Any inspection or viewing is welcome and can be arranged. My friend Aleck (a local sailor, who has a boat on the same pontoon as I, is available to show you my boat by appointment and he will be there after the sale to show you the boat (exactly as in the pictures {which are only a few days old, was painted and anti-fouled 2 weeks ago} and hand over the keys. Steve, the manager at Wakering boatyard, will be happy to answer any questions about the mooring and fees. There is water and electric on the pontoon and this is £115 a month (electric is £1 on the meter) and the boat could also be used as a live- aboard if so wished for 1 person or a couple. There is free parking, etc.
There is plenty of storage as detailed below. Rest assured - you are buying a really good sailing boat and I personally guarantee that the engine will work when the injectors and fuel pump are cleaned out (water was in the diesel in the fuel tank, thus a new fuel tank needs to be installed (there is plenty of space for a new fuel tank to be piped near the engine where the battery charger currently is (see photos) so no problems there. I have an experienced local boat mechanic who will do all the work for £500 (I can give you his contact number before the sale is complete if you wish to speak to him but I will give you his number when the sale is complete.) We only found this out when the boat went back in the water [the Perkins engine started 2 weeks ago first time when out of the water and was running smoothly so we know the engine is good and the gearbox [fully serviced and reconditioned] so rest assured it will be fine when the boat is complete in a few weeks: it only requires literally a few weeks work at the weekends to complete and then she is good to go for the season. I personally guarantee that if the engine is not running after the work is carried out, I will personally refund you £200. So rest assured, you are not buying a heap of junk or something rubbish (please see the photos).
I just am unable to complete the boat as I am not in the country. I have spent well over 200 hours restoring her and I am completely honest with you here; but please ask me any questions that you wish. DETAILS: She has 2 gas rings, gas grill, microwave (has piping for a gas oven or can replace microwave with an electric oven), has full toilet with sink (a shower could be easily installed), large kitchen worktop, with new fold-down sink, has a cupboard and drawer underneath, plus another larger cupboard (see photos). There is also new LED lighting installed. There is plenty of storage: under the seats at the stern, under the two front single sleeping beds in the forward cabin and under the seats in the dining/seating/kitchen area, which also has a fold-down table and this and the seating area convert into a double bed.
She is called 'DOLPHIN' and has a nice, streamlined hull and keel. She has a foresail and four additional sails (Mizzen, main, jibe and another spare main). The main sail and boom and quite large/long (please note: there are no ropes attached to hoist the main sail and no rope for the boom. The anchor light is also not working and needs a new bulb. As I said above, the engine and gearbox have been fully serviced, with lots of new parts.
Just needs a new fuel tank (50-100 litres) and the injectors and fuel pump will need to be cleaned (I have a local boat mechanic who will do the work for £500. Some minor painting to be done on the upper deck around the stern/helm and some blue painting on the walkway of the upper forward deck: this is not much and can be done in one day and the boat is then complete. There is NO other work that needs to be done. It also has a fully working deep-sea DEMEK radio, 2 new switch panels, is wired for GPS and there is a GPS device but it is not working (check wiring/cables), depth sounder, speed is shown in knots; has a floating, manual and switch bilge pump; water is pumped to the two sinks (make sure tap is open before turning on the water pump, which is located the cupboard under the kitchen sink); has a 70 foot anchor chain and a nice anchor; as I said, the main sail and boom are huge; the foresail is attached and there is a mizzen sail and boom; the sails are in the forward cabin as is a box of ropes/halyards, pullies, etc. And some new paint to complete the painting if one wishes.
There are 3 or 4 life jackets, a wooden rope ladder, 2 fire extingushers and lots of bits and bobs in the stern storage area - under the seats: the gas bottle for the cooker is stored there and there are 2 small and one 20L containers for diesel. There are no leaks and the windows are sealed. There is wire to attach curtains for the windows. There is an electric power cable for the pontoon (included) which powers the batt. Charger, microwave, etc.
There is 230v AC power when the engine is running (2 sockets). There are also two brand new (still in boxes with extra long leads) 10 watt solar panels (not installed but easy install) and two new batteries. I have also paid for the mooring fees for June. Please note - you a buying a sailing boat so no returns accepted under any circumstances, except the £200 return if the engine is not working when the mechanic fixes it as I have indicated above. For a boat this size, with the equipment and extras, loads of storage, 5 sails, etc.
You are really getting a bargain ... Look at the pictures! She is a very nice boat for her age, is GRP, strong and is quite streamlined and the view of the boat and the sea from the helm/cockpit is wonderful - her lines, design and shape are made for the sea and sailing! Plus, I have taken £1,500 off of her value price to cover the work that does have to be done, which is not much. I think I have answered everything; but please feel free to contact me if you wish. Many thanks, Paul
