Length overall 14’9” Beam 5’8” Sail Area 110 sq feet If you are looking for a classic traditional designed boat, equally at home with cruising, pottering, taking the family or campign, then look no further. The Yachting World Explorer is a classic stable day boat, designed by Jack Holt in 1961, with a GRP hull, wooden decks, with solid foam plastic moulded into the hull for buoyancy. Originally designed as a day boat, the transom deck has space for a small outboard motor, while the almost flat batten and space bottom to the cockpit was designed with camping in mind. There is plenty pf storage space.

The original design dates to 1961, and XX 55 dates from approximately 1962/3. The boat has a Bermudan rig, comes equipped with terylene sails (jib and mainsail) in good order, metal spars, fittings, rigging, rowlocks and oars, buoyancy bags, cover, and road trailer. This classic boat, now about 57 years old, is still, sailing beautifully as these recent pictures from 2019 and the previous couple of years show. We have sailed her inshore in Devon, on the Norfolk Broads and on Derwentwater and Windermere in the last couple of years, and she is a great family boat. As might be expected for a boat of her age, the boat has picked up a couple of dings which could easily be remedied with filler and don’t affect her sailing ability.

The tiller/rudder and transom fittings could probably do with an overhaul, and the wooden paintwork is now in need of refreshing, or possibly sanding back to the wood and then staining and varnishing to gain a beautiful deck finish. The Bid price of £650 – including trailer – reflects the age of the boat and its overall condition.
