Whistler is a Sparkman Stevens design cruiser racer SHE 36. A SHE 36 won its class in the 1979 Fastnet race and one of Edward Heath's Morning Clouds was a SHE 36. Whistler has cruised the west coast of Scotland, sailed to the Mediterranean and returned through the french canals. She has been upgraded with a Betamarine 28 diesel engine, new stern gear, epoxy-fitted P bracket and a Brunton's autoprop. Whistler has had a new engine fitted professionally in 2010 and epoxy treatment (2001, at Port Napolean in the South of France).
The saloon windows were re-glazed and re-seated in 2014. Whistler has an Autosteer windvane for long passages and a Raymarine ST4000 tiller pilot for use when motoring, together with a fridge and an electric anchor windlass.
