Much loved and looked after vessel. She came out last year for a complete hull overhaul with complete antifoul, scrape down and repaint. We have relocated abroad for work now and she is winterised and on brokerage in Windsor. We had some crazy thoughts about taking her with us but sadly that is proving to expensive. We are looking for the right person to look after her and keep her in good shape for the future.
As values go, her sister ships have sold for as much as £100k albeit in near perfect condition. Nodens is solid and has a good survey to go with her which was carried out last July. She has excellent twin New Holland diesels with new tanks. Shore power is on board together with Cristec charging for the batteries. She has all original mahogany furniture in place, original compass and new carpets.
The original masts and booms are aboard for refitting. Viewings can be arranged with the broker. John Bain, following his retirement as director from Silvers of Rosneath continued free-lance yacht designing for a number of boatyards and special commissions. From the late 1950s, John produced a number of sea-going motor yacht designs known as the Seaborne 35 and Seaborne 40 series. These able vessels include all the characteristics of the famous Silver built boats however with more modern styling and optional ketch rig.
Some history: NODENS was built in 1965 for G W Crook of Staunton Corse, Gloucestershire. NODENS was built only two miles downstream of the SMYC by Seaborne Yacht Company, Court Meadow, Kempsey owned by Eric Seaborne with yard manager and boat builder Jim Preen. During the late 1970s and 80s, NODENS was owned by Lt. Cmdr. G W Sudlow R D of Mendip Farm, Shepton Mallett.
He was a member of the Royal Yacht Squadron at Cowes. In later ownership, NODENS was moved on to the non-tidal River Thames where she is currently moored near Henley-on Thames.
