Up for auction is my Sevtec Vanguard cruising hovercraft build project. Only reason I'm selling it, is that I am looking to raise some funds towards another project. I have built several hovercraft & hovercraft hulls including 4 Sevtecs. The hull is built to a high standard and was jig built by myself using Tricast 4 & Tricast 6 core foam sandwiched between glass cloth & CSM where called for. The resin used was Lloyds approved polyester.
(No wood has been used in the hull). One of the pictures shows the hull prior to being primed with Jotun epoxy marine HB primer which is very tough & durable. The hull was spray painted in 2K acrylic. All in all this is a light weight well proven hull design. The hull is 14 foot X 7 foot.
The vanguard is a roomy 2 to 3 seat hovercraft. These hovercraft are great for fishing and coastal cruising, as there is plenty of room on-board compared to usual hovercraft of this size. The engine is a new still in box 22hp Kohler vertical shaft twin, which is a nice match for this hull. The thrust prop is a new ultra prop bought from Amphibious Marine & then imported into the UK. Propeller is still in the box it arrived in.
I also have the Browning engine driver pulley, 2 X idler pulleys, fan spacer, again all bought direct from Amphibious Marine. The buyer will also get the original Vanguard plans. Amphibious Marine can be checked out here:http://amphibiousmarine.com/ There is plenty of advice available from the Sevtec Builders Forum. This forum is free to join and has a wealth of information available on all the Sevtec range of hovercraft: http://www.sevteckits.com/phpBB/index.php? Sid=2f938174dphonec4ff65cabc0d78 There is also a British hovercraft cruising club that has a lot of information available, but there is a £15 per annum fee to join this club:http://hoverclub.org.uk/ There is no trailer with this package.
The one in some of the pictures is my own that I use to transport my 16 foot Sevtec Surveyor. There is no lift fan ( easily available from several suppliers here in the UK. No Thrust frame or prop guard which will need to be fabricated, all details are in the plans and is not complicated. No skirt, again material is easily available in the UK and all details on making the skirt is in the plans. Making the skirt is very straight forward and no sewing is involved as the skirt is bonded.
Estimated cost of skirt material is approximately £250, but should be less as that was what my super Surveyor skirt material cost me. The hard work has been done with this build project and the fun part of the build fitting the mechanicals is the next stage. This would be a great winter project and realistically could be flying by early spring if not before. You are more than welcome to view before buying / making an offer. There are a few hovercraft cruising club members that regularly fly Vanguards on coastal cruises.
I will also throw in some tricast and glass cloth for the rudder construction, but the Hovercraft cruising club have developed an easier way of making lightweight rudders, which if you view the vanguard package I can show you a set I made & fitted on my own Sevtec Surveyor. Sevtecs of this quality do not come up for sale very often. The starting price is less than what this package has cost me let alone all the hours I have put into it so far. The hull is in the Highlands of Scotland in Lochcarron near the Isle of Skye.
