Welcome to the sale of my Skipper 17 "Serenlass" I bought her 3 years ago with the intention of putting her on a mooring. I wanted to a replacement for my Wayfarer which I cruise but could not bear to sell the Wayfarer! Serenlass has sat on her trailer in the corner of the drive ever since awaiting recommissioning. As you can see she has the most fantastic cockpit cover which zips onto the spray hood and must have cost a small fortune. Padded shaped cushions provide really useful accommodation over the roomy cockpit. Both items were made by Saundesfoot and must have cost a small fortune.Padded shaped cushions provide a couple of cockpit berths!
Skippers are known to be stable performers and good sea-boats.They have twin swing keels that allow you to creep through the shallows and do not intrude in the cabin, my kind of sailing! In the cabin there are 2 berths and a central table that moves up and down the king post to maximise room. There is an electrical panel showing ; Nav lights, pump, depthsounder etc, the transducer and bilge pump are still in place.I have never connected a battery up so can't claim anything works. There is a space for a portable toilet and above, a place for a stove. The bad bits; The cabin needs a refurb as the paint is dry and the plywood fittings have seen better days. The top sides have been pressure washed and this has blown some patches of the old paint off. There is also some deterioration to the wooden hatch rail. The mast is solid with nav lights on the head but the halyards are weathered, they are only 8mm dinghy rope.I know this all sounds negative but I want to be honest and realistic.I travelled 300 miles to buy this boat so had no chance to view it.The hull is smooth and solid with just a couple of superficial dings and the transom is a really robust retractable outboard bracket. The sails are serviceable with roller reefing boom and a superb furling foresail system.Could this boat be sailed as is ? Yes, replace the halliards pull up the sails and go.Cosmetics don't stop boats sailing. The trailer is an ally T-type with a winch and strap. The tyres are like new and I will service or replace the trailer bearings so the winning bidder can have a trouble free drive home.
The above was the listing as written by the previous owner I bought this 2 weeks ago brought it from Cumbria around 200 miles it towed very well there is no spare wheel they are 145 R10 I had never seen one of these before it is bigger than I expected one of the reasons for selling/There are 4 inspection hatches in the floor 2 at the transom and 2 in the cabin. On opening them the one at the door had water trapped in it suspect the windows leak. I think an inspection camera is the way to go I don't have one there must be a drain hole blocked once cleared it will be fine and the windows resealed. The trapped water has caused some damage to what I think is a central wooden keel that is part of the moulding. The sails are plain white no sail number on them With a bit of tlc this could be a great boat just a bit big for me. Viewing recommend at PH2 7QQ I could deliver locally for the cost of fuel if required but only if the bidder has viewed Cash on collection only
