'sparrowhawk' 40 Ft Liveaboard Narrowboat

Narrowboat for sale 'Sparrowhawk' is a 40' all steel narrowboat moored on the Ouse in York. She is set up as a live aboard with wood burning stove and double glazed windows. Insulated throughout with 20mm Kingspan she is warm through the winter months. Propulsion comes from a Lister SL3 diesel engine and Lister gearbox. Traditional tiller steering and steel bar linked gearbox.

Instant gas water heater supplies 3 outlets including shower with fresh water from flexible water tanks in the bilges. There is a 4 stage 12v water filtration system with UV sterilisation allowing filtration of river water. Full 660W solar set up with Outback MPPT charge controller linked to 3 AGM house batteries and 1600W Victron multiplus 12/1600. Solar 12v lighting and 240v sockets throughout. Layout from the bow consists of double cabin forward with built in wardrobe storage.

Through 'submarine' style doors to living area with Aga multifuel stove and sofa. This links to the L-shaped kitchen with full size under counter fridge and double oven. Aft of the kitchen is a bathroom through the same style doors with sink, shower and Separett 240v composting toilet. Beyond the bathroom is a further sub style door into the engine room with fuel tanks, electrics, batteries, gas water heater, water filter. The rear hatch leads upwards to the trad stern driving position.

There is a BSS certificate that expires in December but no changes have been made since last issue so I see no problem with renewal. The shallow V hull was last out the water over 3 years ago so would probably benefit from a lift out and reblack. The previous owner had it replated a few years before we bought it. The top sides could also do with some paint touch ups or a full repaint but this is mostly cosmetic. The boat was being lived in until last year but family changes meant reluctantly moving onto dry land.

Although we have enjoyed using her for the odd day or two a boat like this needs to be lived in and maintained. She was a project boat and there remains some small details to be finished but would allow someone to move onboard right away and live comfortably.
