Engine Make: Mariner
Lucy is the perfect boat for a couple or young family, with sparkling sailing performance. Complete with the brilliant Garmin 720s chartplotter, you can easily and safely sail her to France and the Channel Isles. Or take advantage of the lift keel and literally park on the beach. She is easy to sail but sailing performance is impressive: the lift keel allows her to exceed theoretical maximum hull speed, achieving 8 knots excluding tide in the right conditions. I passage plan at 5 knots as I would for a 30 footer.Inside, there is room for five (if you are reasonably good friends!), with two side berths and one in the bow with an in-fill (all full length). This space could also be used as a 7ft x 5ft 4in double Vee berth with a further two children's berths, one on each side.
There's also a double quarter berth (6ft x 4ft), with limited but adequate headroom on one side. There is a small chart table and a galley (tap with electric pump and ice box), a small hanging cupboard and hanging space behind the Thetford cassette toilet. Headroom by the galley is 5ft 11in but less further in. There's lots of storage space around the galley, under all the berths, in a wrap round shelf, and a large cupboard above the Vee berth. The table opens out to seat five comfortably.
A forward hatch, and window in the quarter berth, as well as main side windows give plenty of light. There are lights in all the key places. On deck there is a massive under cockpit locker to starboard, space to seat five, a small platform and folding ladder at the stern. There are LED nav lights, lazy jacks (which have seen better days), compass and the aforementioned brilliant chart plotter. There is a furling genoa, cunning mast lowering system (I have taken this off but easy to put back). Lines lead back to the cockpit for furling and reefing.
The 8hp outboard gives extra manoeuvrability when required. External power fittings and cable included. There's a tiller pilot fitting and fittings for a gennaker set on a retractable bow sprit (which I haven't used). She was built in 1999 but not launched until 2002. I'm the second owner and we have had massive fun in her as the family grew up. I have all the paperwork and instructions for the various bits of kit.
She is currently on shore on Hayling Island. She will be supplied with a new coat of anti fouling and an engine service. Anchor with 10m chain and 20m warp, fenders, warps, winch handle, fuel tank, and three life jackets are included. So basically, ready to sail. Sailing Today (Sep 2003) said "She is a pretty looking boat.... the accommodation is superb for a 24-footer, but nowhere does this infringe on her commendable sailing qualities." Contact me for a PDF of the report. There's no trailer.
She's 2.2 tonnes and we decided it was too much hassle and didn't have a chunky enough 4 x 4. However, I'm happy to deliver (South coast) or sail her to your mooring with you. There are videos of Lucy under sail here: Approaching the IoW after a Channel crossinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?
