Stevens 1140 cruiser ‘Stouty’ SSR 45485 New 4 year Boat Safety Certificate expires April 2021 Stouty is a Stevens 1140 motor cruiser built in Holland in 1990. She is of all steel construction with twin bilge keels which offer excellent seagoing stability and if she is required to settle on the sand or mud, vertical stability. She is configured with the desirable twin Volvo TAMD31 engines offering the security for off shore and estuary cruising and easy maneuverability for restricted inland and marina berthing. She has the good seakeeping qualities necessary for coastal or estuary cruising but is equally at home on inland waterways or rivers. Built in Holland, Stevens Cruisers are designed for cruising the European waterways where they can cope with the commercial traffic.
Alternatively she could be used for comfortable long term cruising and would offer spacious live aboard accommodation. She benefits from having both internal and external conning positions each fitted with engine and autopilot controls. THE ACCOMMODATION: can sleep 7. Two in the forward cabin, two on converted double on the raised dining area, one on the settee in the main cabin and two on the fixed double bed in the aft master cabin. The galley/dining area has formica work surface with stainless steel sink, hot and cold water, Origo dual fuel cooker (spirit and mains), gas oven/grill and fridge (gas/12 volt/240 volt).
The dining table seats 4 in comfort and converts to a comfortable double bed when required. The main cabin has seating for 6 together with lower conning position, a sliding door to the main deck and stairs to the upper deck and external conning position. Steps down from main cabin lead to the heads with wash basin and separate shower cubicle. The wc can be used as a sea toilet or switched to a holding tank as required on inland waterways or in some marinas. The aft master cabin sleeps two on double bunk with ample wardrobe and cupboard space.
The engines are located under the main cabin deck which also houses the 2 new 140 AHC domestic batteries, 2 motor starter batteries, battery charger, fresh water pump, Eberspacher heater, calorifier etc. The twin engine compartments are protected by automatic fire extinguishers. The underwater hull has recently benefitted from being shot blasted to SA 2.5 spec bare metal and Epoxy coated to approximately 8 inches above the water line. The hull has had two coats of anti fouling applied together with 8 new anodes. I would give serious consideration to a part exchange for a suitable Narrowboat or interesting classic car.
