Featured Refinements: Broads Cruiser
Welcome to the auction of my stunning Broads Cruiser & houseboat which is in excellent condition and is open to any professional inspection or survey. I have owned Sea Breeze for just short of 3 years in which time, I have systematically gone through the boat, updating and or replacing to ensure everything is working perfectly. If your looking for a more tranquil lifestyle at a fraction of the cost of house ownership, this may well be of interest to you. It is currently moored at a superb Marina with terrific facilities, which also enjoys excellent motorway and transport links. Sea Breeze is a 40 foot X 10 foot GRP 6 berth cabin cruiser built in the 1980’s by the renowned boatbuilder Aquafibre, who were based on the Norfolk Broads.
Trading for nearly 50 years, Aquafibre were hugely influential in the development of Modern leisure boating and played a key role with some of the biggest names in the industry including both Broom & Princess. The beauty of GRP over a narrowboat is that for a liveaboard it provides so much more space, yet because of its length you actually pay a lower canal licence. Sea Breeze is powered by (I believe) a 2.5 BMC 4 cyl Diesel engine. Specification includes 2 separate cabins, one with an en-suite bathroom to the stern, 2 X single (or double) in the bow, with a further double if required by converting the seats in the lounge. Second separate bathroom with macerator W.C and a new shower which has excellent water pressure.
Both heads are pump out. Large lounge with seating for 6 people, good size kitchen area, huge amounts of storage, including hanging wardrobes, cupboards and drawers etc. 6 foot plus headroom. Wonderful back deck for sunbathing, drinks & alfresco dining or simply watching the odd boat amble bye. Victron Multiplus 3kwh/120 amp charger inverter.
Virtually all furniture/ornaments shown included. Colour TV with DVD and over 100 stations, CD & radio with twin speakers, full size fridge, gaz cooker and hob, fenders, mooring ropes, catch pole, manuals and supporting paperwork. Work carried out during my ownership Includes full antifoul and hull repaint. New Boat Safety Scheme certificate with the examiners comments “I wish every boat was like this”. Insulation to both front & rear cabins, Eberspacher diesel heating system to the living area and both cabins, shower & pump in the main bathroom, radiator in the rear cabin, multiple 230v double sockets, 3 X fire extinguishers, galvanic isolater, memory foam mattress, partial rewire, full set of winter covers, colour matching fenders, 12v LED remote controlled multi colour lighting, windows resealed, bilge pump, immersion heater with timer, engine service just carried out, external lights, sundeck furniture and security alarm - quite literally no expense spared.
I have lived on Sea Breeze throughout the year and with the new heating system installed is blissfully warm with the additional back up of electric heating should it be required. Currently has 3/4 tank of diesel. Stern Gland just repacked. As I use Sea Breeze as a houseboat, the engines have had very little use and have therefore just been serviced. Whilst I do not sell much on classifieds board, please check out the feedback left on a previous sale of my narrowboat some 5 years ago!
Subject to approval and availability by the Marina, a long stay mooring may be available, together with the possible future option of onshore storage. Marina facilities include electric gates, CCTV, chandlery, WiFi, car parking, pump out, bar & restaurant, Gaz bottles, diesel, shower & toilet block, washing machines & dryers, beautifully maintained gardens, and an office for post/parcel deliveries. Based within a 5 minute walk of the small town of Thorne, which is mentioned in the Doomsday book, the Marina is perfectly located with 2 railway stations, a high street, multiple supermarkets, pubs, take-aways, petrol stations, McDonald’s etc. However, in my opinion it’s biggest asset is that it is quite literally a stones throw from the M180 allowing immediate access to all parts of the country. For the uninitiated, life on board can be remarkably good value and allows you the unique opportunity to enjoy life at a considerably slower pace.
Typical overheads include mooring fees of around £225 per month to include water, parking, post, deliveries, security & showers. Subject to individual usage, electric Is around £45.00 per month, no council tax, insurance approximately £100 per year. Waterways licence is around £750 per annum. If like me you are not into DIY, and would prefer your maintenance carried out by a time served professional, I can introduce you to a fellow on site boater who charges £ 20.00 per hour. Only reason for sale, is that we have agreed the purchase of a new Aquafibre Lowliner which is being delivered in approximately 1 month.
BSC licence expires 2003. Quite literally, bring your clothes and a toothbrush and you would feel at home within the hour. Lying on the Sheffield & South Yorkshire Navigation canal, viewings can be arranged by calling me, the owner on phone. Open to serious offers, no swaps or exchanges please. Deposit required of 10% by bank transfer with the balance payable within a time to be agreed also by bank transfer.
Offers will only be considered once a successful viewing has taken place., ,
