This has been a genuine no expense spared experience and nothing but quality parts has been used in the upkeep and upgrades. Where to start, when we bought “Any Excuse” she was called SOLA we used her for the first 6 months where we live on the Thames so the boat has had no real stress put on the engines, she still didn’t feel quite right whilst under a bit of stress. Upon investigation we found that one of the valves had started to break up (apparently common in the AQ151s) so we removed both engines straight away to not cause more damage. We bought the parts from Keypart in Watford and we rebuilt the engines this put the boat out of action for the rest of the summer of 2015.
We started 2016 at Easter when we launched the boat again with freshly rebuilt engines, new exhaust bellows and drive boots. We used the boat loads over the course of 2016 with no problems what so ever until July when we found one of the engines kept cutting out, this was found to be one of the main battery’s not holding charge so that was replaced. She ran the rest of the year (taken out the water in November) with no problems At the start of 2017 we decided to get the props rebalanced as they were looking old with a few small chips in them. The week before we launched her we gave her two new coats of antifoul on the hull and both legs. As well as replacing the leisure battery we also fitted all new lights to the cockpit these were 12v LEDs so next to no consumption and no danger of bulbs heating up.
We ran her for the whole of 2017 with no problems again. Its fair to say she has been relitivly effortless sailing! It’s the same as most things with boats, look after them and they will look after you. Now as always there are some negatives, We re glued the headlining over the winter of 17/18 but unfortunately the glue hasn’t held so the headlining in the cabin is starting to sag again and the two rear cushions need re covering as shown in the pictures the stitching has gone where everyone gets on and off the boat at the back Any questions please call/whats app/text me om phone The boat is located in Harleyford marina, Marlow, Bucks, SL7 2DX
