Sunseeker Monterey 27 with twin Volvo Penta 5.7 V8's that were full reconditioned and carefully modified for maximum BHP and reliability during 2019, having just completed the running in time specified by RPM Engineering who carried out the work, no expense has been spared we used our simple theory if in doubt replace with new, so new alternators, new started motors, new fresh water pumps both raw water and engine cooling, new inlet manifolds to suit the new Holly 650 four barrel carburettors, new flame retardant air filters, new electric high pressure fuel pumps , new electronic ignitions with new distributor caps plug leads and coils and of course new spark plugs and as a matter of course new sender units for oil pressure and temperature new throttle cables , two new risers, new Garmin depth sounder with fish finder and navigation, the list goes on and on , the boat comes with a pile of receipts from 2019 which exceed £18,000 , both out drives were fully overhauled at the same time as was the electric windlass, the fuel tank was removed and a small area of corrosion was removed and repaired with new aluminium by specialist welding company Impress of Ryton fully tested and cleaned before refitting with new hardwood cross bars laminated into the floor of the hold. The boat was finally launched late September 2019 and used for 6 hours, then fully winterised by RPM and dry stored, the currant situation did cause a late start to this season and the engines have now been run for a further 14 hours on lake windermere this year, they will be fully serviced prior to completion of sale In the water this Don Shead, (designed) a well known off shore power boat designer , handles exceptionally well , it is very fast, planes at 10 mph has huge torque and acceleration, and so far in a short burst i have seen 60 MPH recorded on the GPS,(not on windermere of course) i believe it will do over 70 MPH and fully intend on trying that prior to sale probably on Loch Lomond, it loves a bit of rough water and just cuts through high waves, turns well and is very easy to Pilot. And yet at low speed IE Windermere's 10 knot limit remarkably economical. I Bought this boat from Boat shop in Littlehampton who were extremely helpful (recommended) during September 2018 after doing some research as to what i wanted which was a weekender that would go on a trailer if necessary with a low centre of gravity good sea keeping qualities a high cruising speed and a high top speed and the Monterey 27 seemed about the only thing, i did have a look at a couple but they were tired and worn, one of the attractions to this one is it was described as a one owner boat, it was obvious to me that the cabin had had very little use, i suspect never slept in before, the original upholstery is in lovely condition, the wood work fair, the carpets the same, and the head lining, fitted with sea toilet, sink with cold running water (the water tank was removed and thoroughly cleaned when the engines were out) single disc stereo, and fridge which gets icy cold, the cabin table drops down and there are two infill cushions to make up a large double bed which is very comfortable , you can stow the side cushions underneath to get even more room if required, the table stows away nicely in the toilet compartment when not in use. The cockpit trim is also in lovely condition, original and no marks or tears, The Boat shop have their own trim shop so i had a new full tonneau cover made they also renewed all the plastic windows in the full camper covers which give full standing height when fitted they come in two halves front which allows all the windows to be rolled up to make a Bimini top or completely removed, the rear section still giving full height and again the windows rolled up when required they are of course in good condition, the boat is perfectly usable with the full camper covers on, Boat shop also re made the large cushion that makes up a second double berth or sunbathing bed covering the engine cover it matches the original trim well.
The dashboard is nice and tidy with tacho, oil pressure, temperature and ammeter gauges, for each engine, fuel gauge, and Volvo Penta trim gauges for each leg, trim tap switches, nav , horn, and bilge pump switches, i have also fitted a new wood rim steering wheel and being a fussy so and so had a UV ray proof cover made for it for when the boat is not in use and don't allow anyone wearing rings to use it, on the dash top is a new Garmin i went for a smaller unit to allow good viability from the driving seat, i never understand why people clutter the dash tops with electronics and ruin the drivers viability to the extent you can only see when standing up which given the speed this boat is capable of you need the protection of the windscreen. The Boat itself was commissioned in 1988 the fact that is a Sunseeker speaks for itself it gets a lot of admiring looks and has the quality you expect from such a boat builder, the hull itself is in fair condition, i offer it for sale with a great deal of reluctance and its not as though i need the money its just my boating requirements have changed slightly and i am tentatively looking for a Princess 286 Riviera. Delivery can be arranged at £1.50 per mile (one way) i have a four wheel Indespension trailer 2017 model which may be available by separate negotiation. Viewing can be arranged for most times, water test once a deposit has been taken
