Swift 20 Yacht Trailer Sailer

Hi there, This is my Swift 20 “Loopy Lou” which I have for sale, sail number 5994T. Believed to be built in 1990. The Swift 20 is a variant of the Swift 18, it comes with a factory moulded sugar scoop which was added to aid performance. Very few of these boats where built in this format. I have spent alot money on bringing her back up to scratch with a restoration in 2015 This is a proper trailer sail, about as big as realistic to tow on the roads but sails well and comfortable on the water.

It has lifting centerboard which retracts under the hull and only needs a few inches of water to float. The rudder lifts up to accommodate the shallows, you can stand on the slipway with dry feet and hold the bow and she is still afloat. The exterior has had new a new stripe and name applied, as well as a new rubbing stake around the gunwales. The rigging was checked and refurbished where required in 2016, a new custom made forestay was manufactured for the original Roto-stay roller reefing as spares are no longer available. Two mains and Genoa’s are included.

The original mainsail and Genoa are in good condition and also a set of sails that had been used for racing. Whilst past their best for racing they seem ok, the ex-racing Genoa could do with the furled sun strip to be renewed. A spinnaker is included, in good condition but un-used by myself. This came from a 505 racing dinghy and is well suited size wise. A spinnaker pole is included.

The interior has been mostly refurbished with new headlining boards and vinyl. The sides have been finished in marine carpet. The original seats and cushions are still in place, some of the buttons have caused discoloration of the fabric on the backrests but apart from this it is all in good order. She sleeps 4 comfortably, two single quarter births and a large bed in the bow. Has a sink and cooker, the cooker has had the gas line replaced but requires a new regulator fitting in the rear cockpit locker where there is a specific gas bottle holder.

New electrics installed, comprising of a 75amp leisure battery which is charged by a solar panel on the coach roof. In turn this is controlled and regulated by a control panel, a fused switch panel then controls the various lighting/navigation circuits on the boat. Full navigation lights, and VHF radio and interior lighting Nasa Clipper duo instrumentation for depth and speed, Nasa Clipper Wind for wind speed and direction. Both instrument screens are a little faded so brand new identical boxed systems are provided with the yacht to be installed if wished. The items are over £300 new.

New Trailer from the original manufacturer SBS Trailers at a cost of £2400 which has a fresh water flush system for the braking system. This is of the latest EU compliant standards and comes with this certificate. Comes complete with trailer board and full size spare tyre. Only been used to launch the yacht 4 times since new and each time has been fully washed through. New windows fitted which cost £120 New Houdini fore-hatch fitted £200 New washboards £140 New C&J Marine Spray hood, purchased new and unused at a cost of £900 from Kemp sails, just sat in storage since purchase.

A boom tent is included, again unused since new, 4bhp Yamaha 4-stroke short shaft outboard, only 4 hours running time since brand new. Comes complete with a carry bag. A 9ltr external fuel tank is included in the sale. New cockpit cushions, fully water proof. Cost £700 new, again unused.

A tender 2.1m inflatable tender is included, holds air and is easily carried by one person. A great little proper yacht that’s ready to go. Easily handled on the trailer or on the water, Viewing is highly recommended. Located in Poole, Dorset in Private secure storage. I will be sad to see her go but a change in family circumstances forces sale.
