Description:
"Tamarisk" was handbuilt by the King Brothers (Image attached) in Darlington circa 1961 and first launched at the Ullswater Yatch Club where she is well known. She is a 22ft, triple keel "Eventide" motor yatch. She is currently in dry storage in Bottesford, Nottighamshire where she has been since October 2020, I purchased Tamarisk in late 2019, she was stored on an old American Airfield in Suffolk where she had been for many years. I instantly fell in love with her classic lines, she is something of a "gentlemans cruiser". Covid put a halt to restoration plans in early 2020 but she was finally transported on her own twin axle launch trailer, to the workshop, where restoration started November 2020.She is mounted on a specially designed steel stillage frame which is mobile. This allowed me to get easy access to the hull. This bespoke stillage is NOT INCLUDED in the sale and can be purchased seperatley by negotiation. I have spent over 125 hours in stripping her out and carefully removing all of her adornments. She has been hand built by two craftsmen as in the King Brothers and some of the detaling in the wood work is simply stunning. She is constructed of top quality marine ply, she is solid throughout and requires no structural restoration, only surface. The triple keel hull has been stripped of all the past 60 years of anti foul and maintenance paint, revealing the beautiful original wood in prime condition. There are just two very small repairs to complete on the hull. The centre keel in oak/steel lead filled, the outer keels are galvanised steel in superb condition. Her original colour on the hull was turquoise. She comes equiped with beautiful original brass chandeliery, including gyroscope oil lamps, brass port holes and hand made brass and copper runnning lights, the original ship to shore radio is stil in good condtion.Bilge pumps, fire extingushiers, radio antennas, valve blocks&handles, cranking handles etc etc. She has all of her rigging and a full set of sails, however she will require a new main mast. The original may be restorable. She is powered by the famous Stuart Turner single cylinder two stroke P5 engine, this will require restoration. I have another P55MR Twin (refurbished and running) which I purchased in 2020 and planned to install in Tamarisk, this is available seperately by negotiation if required. All the original interior wood is in great condition as is the upholstery. Wiring and plumming including sea cocks, sink and valves have been stripped out. The speedometer is original as is the main compass. The Original fuel tank underneath the aft deck is in very good condtion. She wil be lifted back on to her trailer in the next few days and made ready for towing, the trailer although original, as can be seen in the image with the King Brothers, is in good condtion, the wheel bearings were stripped and re packed when she was transported in 2020, a very sturdy construction, over engineered really, anchoring chains come with the trailer, you will need a light board to tow.Genuine reason for selling her...I simply don't have the time now. She needs an enthusiastic restorer who can see the beauty in her, the end result will be I'm sure breath taking! She has to go because of storage limitations so I'm starting the auction off at £0.01.... some very lucky person will get a stunning boat, the original chandeliery/adornments alone are worth antique money. I'm happy to answer any questions 0phone So grab your self a genuine bargain,Good luck
