Description:
Petrel is a 1973 Tornado 31 GRP sailing yacht with 6 berths and 20HP Bukh DV20 diesel engine. Designed by Frank Butler of the Catalina and Jaguar era, she is a comfortable and capable cruiser, having sailed the North Sea to Holland and through the French canals with the previous owner, built in the Playvisa yard in Spain. Selling due to having bought a new boat and hence priced to sell at £4800. Has only been sailed lightly over the past few years due to time and covid restrictions and situated on a finger berth in Tarbert harbour, Loch Fyne. The current berth is available for transfer and Tarbert is an ideal location, a very picturesque natural harbour with many services and bars and restuarants available. It is also possible to live aboard at Tarbert Harbour and the new marina facilities are excellent, along with extended parking. Accommodation Spacious main cabin with over 6 foot headroom and drop down dinette to form double and long berth to port. Quarter berth well over 6 foot by chart table. Chart drawer under dinette table. Galley with original two burner origo gimbal stove included, currently replaced with a galley rack designed to fit either a single gas burner or origo heatpal.Pull out chopping board, bottle rack and foot pedal sink. Brand new and unused NuovaRade 120 litre water tank fitted with new hose on inlet and to taps in galley and head. Hanging locker to port, head to starboard with pullout sink and brand new manual tap. Secure sliding door cabinet behind and grocco compact head with new seat. V berth with lockers underneath.Deck Sloop with slab reefing on mainsail and continuous track roller reefing genoa, sails are old but useable. Standing rigging replaced 2011. Main halyard replaced late 2018. Lewmar winches and barton clutches, all rigged back to cockpit. Spacious cockpit with tiller steering.Long wooden tiller also included - in cabin at present. 2x 16mm mooring lines and assorted other lines and fenders included. Deck painted with Toplac Atlantic grey all over with non-slip granules added on all walkable surfaces. Easy to add more non-slip with another layer when needed. 10Kg Lewmar Delta anchor with 30m of chain - chain in need of replacement.New 30m octoplait anchor warp added late 2018. Danforth style second anchor. Engine and Electrics Bukh DV20 20HP diesel engine (1987) installed 2013. New and barely used main battery in 2018. Leisure battery also included.Electric instruments have not been tested and so cannot be guaranteed to work but are included anyway. The depth sounder does not work as the transducer is detached, the VHF radio was functional when last tested, along with chartplotter, log, AIS receiver. We have always used a handheld VHF with phones/tablets MX mariner/ navionics apps and a backup handheld GPS and found this perfectly fine for coastal sailing. Some cabin lights are working throughout but not all. The nav lights require attention.Yard work Hauled out and antifoul stripped right back in late 2018 then coated with 2 coats of primacon before 2 coats of new antifoul. Slipped and antifouled in the past month by Tarbert boatyard. Optional extras Habitent - Sirocco habitent bought new and never used as we used a cockpit tent instead: £300 Origo Heatpal - bought to extend the cruising season and can be secured on galley rack for both heating and cooking: £100 2x orange beginner lifejackets - handy for guests: £30 On the to-do list: replace guard rails rewire electrics replace sails replace anchor chain heads - use service kit or replace Replace cushions - the cushions are old, probably original throughout and some are torn. Loose cream covers have been made for the dinette and berth opposite which are removable. 2 of the dinette cushions have new foam in them, the v berth has a custom futon mattress as the cushions were beyond repair. This could be replaced with a foam mattress quite easily. Contact Email email or call phone for further details or to arrange a visit. She can be seen most weekends on Friday day, Saturday or Sunday morning.
