FOR SALE IS MY DORMAN 2LB TWIN CYLINDER DIESEL ENGINE NO.69227 CIRCA 1960Originally built into a power pack and fitted to a Priestman Cub crane/excavator this engine was purchased by me as a 'spare' for another 2LB which I have powering a 65' Narrow Boat.My boat is now being sold-the Dorman having performed faultlessly for the past 10 years/3500 hours-- thus the 'spare' is surplus to requirements. The engine has had the fuel tank, clutch and radiator (not included) removed to make it easier to move around on the trolley(included) to which it is bolted. As shown, the front and rear mounting feet are present and could be used to fasten the engine to suitable bearers.Engine details: Twin cylinders Bore:125mm Stroke:130mm Swept volume: 3.190 litre Power: Est. 23/25hp @1000 rpm (max 30hp @1800)When fitted with a full flywheel housing the 2LB can be easily adapted to run close coupled with a PRM 260 2:1 reduction gearbox (see example picture)The side mounted water pump produces adequate flow to cool the engine via a hull mounted skin tank and calorifier( if required).Whilst in my care I have had the injectors removed and checked and started the engine(without any problems) via the 24 volt motor as fitted. My experience with the Dorman 2LB has shown it to be a reliable, durable unit more than capable of pushing my 65' narrow boat via a 22''x22''pitch propeller. With a 2:1 reduction gearbox this is an aggressive prop, but with excellent torque characteristics the engine copes easily and has towed a 70' butty without any strain. These slow running engines sound awesome when run with a suitable exhaust system ! If you require further details on the Dorman LB engine range -- please ask-- I have a friend who worked at the factory and is happy to try and answer any questions. Please be aware that this is a heavy item (Circa 400 kg?) and approx.
42'' tall with a relatively narrow footprint.Buyer will be responsible for safe lifting and transportation from the kerbside. Experience suggests this will not travel safely in a Transit van. Please note that the photographs of the engine room installed grey engine are for illustration purposes only and are not the actual engine on offer.Cash on collection only, and no time wasting idiots please. Less than 10 feedback please contact me before trying to buy.
